Black C6 RS6 Avant review
Black C6 RS6 Avant review
Well my brother and I decided to go and have a drive of the black RS6 at Basingstoke Audi, it had the silver recaros and piano black trim - looked boring on the outside and lovely on the inside.
I was struggling to find the right words to describe what I thought and it boils down to sensing less of the world around when you drive. Less wind noise, less Tyre roar, less sense of acceleration or braking etc. It's just so well built and insulated that you don't feel as in touch with what is going on than you do in the C5 RS6. Whilst this is lovely for a GT/cruiser it is not what would make me buy an RS (A/B road blasts). I would expect that level of detachment from an A8 but not from the flagship RS.
I thought the interior was both gorgeous and modern but the outside just has no aggression - looks almost identical to a standard A6 which is also a real pity. On the plus side it did handle well, power delivery was very smooth and the balance on hard cornering was excellent with the DRC, but it still felt woolly and detached. What a shame.
I had always believed that the only real replacement for the C5 RS6 for me would be the new RS6, now I am not so sure. Maybe a combination of someone like MRC and Milltek can help sort out it's shortcomings along with ceramic breaks. Maybe I had hoped it would be so much better than the old one that I had over-hyped it in my own mind. Anyway it's just not good enough for me to want to buy one over my current girl.
With the expected massive depreciation (lack of full postcode sat nav still which in my mind is unforgivable given current technology!) and my above thoughts I won't be buying one this side of £50k. Were I to actually get one in the future I would definitely go for the sepang blue.

Well, I have just hammered the new RS6, had it flat, and gave it the business on twisty bits. Bl--dy Norah. IT IS GOOD.
My RS has just turned 83K on 2003 pate. I have had that flat many times and on twisty bits and can reassure the doubters the new one GOES, HANDLES and STOPS better than mine. It will weed seed the M5. It sounds like a V10. Oh for £80K and get my Blue's and Two's on one of these to do shouts. My dealer had pity on me and let me have a go in their demo. He has made a poor, old man ''very, very 'appy'' as Valantino would say

Agreed-drove one yesterday -disguises the speed a bit too well-but christ does it handle, front grips and rear drives you round the corners-on the Kimbolton Road(anyone that knows it )
-very undulating road so pushes suspension and chassis set up quite hard
-could not find understeer ,not sure if I want to go any faster on a public road
I sold my old one today -also 83 k-new one in four weeks.
And if they depreciate as much as everyone who has not got one yet predicts,a simple private purchase from the company will make it a bargin.

Do hope there was a decimal point missing in there somewhere!!!

take delivery of mine tomorrow-agreed it is a lot of money and the depreciation might be epic or then again not.
but I can remember the first one being delivered over five years ago and the same excitement is there.
and the depreciation on that was pretty stiff but what else can you buy that can cope with all journeys in all weathers and still feel special
quite fancy flat cap and slippers -good to keep them guessing....

I still like the understated looks, BUT do see what everyone is saying, It def does not shout HEADBANGER!!!
80k- <beep> its a lot, I aint got 80k, but after today I would certainly have one if i did......................Just my opinion- not disagreeing witha nyone elses- just my "renewed" opinion!
