98 would be good enough as there is a BP garage about one minute drive from my house, whereas going to get Optimax always involves a pain in the butt trip...

I will have a look tonight

Dunc

even worse Dunc, they've knocked the Shell petrol station down now in Bracknell as observed by myself this morning whizzing past at 7.30..

Hmph, I haven't got a Shell or a BP within 5 miles of home, just a [censored] Jet, and nothing on my commute either. Given that the RS 6 shouldn't be run on 95 RON, that means every fillup (every three days) means a detour.

I drive past a large BP on my way home and it had a big "?" covering the post thing outside where they would put the prices. Will pop in and find out tomorrow.

Ha - we were on holiday in North Norfolk last week. I was glad that I'd checked the Shell website for locations before we went - there are only two Shell stations north of Norwich, one in Fakenham, 13.5 miles from where we were staying, and the other in King's Lynn (even further away).

... and now she wants to buy a holiday cottage up there!

OK. Just picked up a leaflet at BP for their Ultimate range of fuels. Petrol and Diesel
I'll scan it later but the jist of it is that it is higher octance (cetane for diesel) and it burns cleaner because of this. Apparently it is like moving up to the next engine size (!) eg 1.8 to 2.0. Also reckons you can get 25 more miles to the tank. Smoke is also reduced between 10 and 30% on diesels.
There's a number to call on the back which I will in a minute.
Sounds encouraging to me, especially for the tractor drivers out there

Cheers

Bullshit. BP bloke said it's 97 RON and when I said that's what's in the SUL pumps anyway he told me it was "a completely different fuel which cleans better than any other".
Whooppeeee, more detergents just like crappy supermarket fuel.
Call them on 0800 402402 to see how many different answers we get

Peter the one on Sweet Briar on the Norwich ring road is always 3p a liter cheaper than in the Thames Valley area !
Aunt (86) has just moved into a sheltered bungalow and just sold her cottage, overlooking the salt marshes in Cley, needed a lot of work and still £160k !!

I just went to the roundabout close to my office.
On each of the four corners is Sainsburys, Asda, BP and Shell - petrol is cheapest here for miles around. (Optimax 77.9p)

So I go to the BP garage, to pick up this leaflet. There are a couple of posters, but no big song and dance. Garage attendant did know a thing (suprising eh )

Across the road to Shell to fill up and they have a guy on the forecourt asking people to try Optimax and handing out leaflets. Do you think they are worried?

Yep - found that one! Nearly as cheap as my local Shell (which is closed for refurb at the mo. ). Went to one on the Basingstoke Rd and was surprised at how much more they are charging!

Found a row of cliff-top cottages at Weybourne which are probably going quite cheap - the cliff edge appears to be approaching them rather quickly, and they seemed to be abandoned.

Nothing about the UK found yet.
Try here.
Definitely says it's 97RON.

Nearly as cheap as my local Shell (which is closed for refurb at the mo.

So which one do you use? I found that the one on the Oxford rd was usually cheaper than the one on the Basingstoke Road. But last time I filled up there (Oxf rd) it was 80.9p!

Yep, I paid 80.9 @ Basingstoke Rd. I usually use Shinfield Rd, it was 77.9 last time I filled up there - a penny less than I'd paid previously for 97RON at the Shinfield Esso.
