Inspite of having asked the question previously on the board, I'm still unclear if you actually derive any benefit running octanes in excess of 98...
Toluene's octane is 121 IIRC so you can easily work out a blend to give you a particular rating, but if the car is unable to compensate for the better fuel, what is the point?
Someone needs to fill their car with 98 RON and someone else with 102 RON and both head down to the dyno to see what happens...

RS4 Avant - Sold Aug 2009
I get it from rc stiven in dundee but any paint supply wholsaler should get it.
All modern ecu units have some adjustability of engine parameters and running 98 ron which is opitimum these should be in the middle of their ranges to allow adjustment either way.there will be an adjustment of 4 or 5 ron either way.all you are doing is taking advantage of this and giving the car a more energy dense fuel.toluene is also cheaper than petrol, think the last lot i got about 80p litre.I have been using it for years in honda type r's,within a couple of miles the engine runs smoother and quieter and blow me the rs did the same ! compared to bp ultimate, difficult to get v power here locally.I promise you,the difference is not small!!

Is it safe to continually use these kind of additives in our engines though??bfettie wrote:I get it from rc stiven in dundee but any paint supply wholsaler should get it.
