Can you not get an ipod connector fitted and go down that route. Alot more storage....Thats the route i took anyway when i upgraded my head unit.

Well my phone has 8gb storage and it can stream the music to the headset (AD2P), that was one of the main reasons i bought the headunit, the headunit also controls the phone... I just didnt want a CD changer in the boot that was useless...

Guess I can remove it and save wieght! hehe.

Well I've worked it out. :-P

It is possible. But it requires a fair bit of effort.

As you need to make your own adapter up, and possibly a protocol converter (also depending what functions you want to retain) for the sony head unit to communicate to the cd changer.

It isn't just a case of a few wires to direct the track number and cd changer to play the changer. The cd changer uses serial data lines to direct the changer what to do. But it does use normal line level audio outputs to the head unit.

So for the people with standard concert I head units it is possible to connect your ipod or mp3 player and control it from the head unit.

You can always use your cd-changer for a home cd changer for your hifi. :-)

The thing is, do you really want to spend lots of effort getting a cd changer to work with the sony head unit if you can play hundreds of tunes from an mp3 disc or USB stick.

Anyway, din plugs on order and soon to go an order my new head unit.
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!
