Multi car / 2nd car insurance

Post by frazered » Tue Jun 24, 2008 9:13 pm

just picked my new toy - a facelift s4 and have found getting insurance for it as a second car a bit difficult

my main driver is a t sport for racking miles onto with the s4 as a toy :)

best quote I have found is with Elephant as I effectively have to go back to 0 ncb's rather getting any credit for the 10 years ncb I have on my t sport and that I will only be driving the s4 less than 5000 miles per annum.

anyone had a similar situation ? how did you handle / get a better price?

thanks

I have three cars all insured with A-Plan and they mirror the NCD on my main policy on to the policies on my other cars. As an example, my B5 cost £600 with all mods declared.
Golf R - with added MRC
Sprint blue B7 RS4 Avant - Sold
Ultimate Silver Nissan GT-R - Sold
Avus MRC 470 B5 RS4 Avant - Sold

You should be able to mirror some of your ncb with most insurance companies. Although you can't protect it.

Ive got both my cars with Greenlight. They swapped the NCD from the RS4 to my Golf, left the RS4 at the same premium (all modes declared) and then gave the full NCD on the Golf. Result.

RS4 in the only colour to have - Misano Red | MRC Remap | RS6+ brakes | H&R and Custom Performance Parts suspension |

bizarre - greenlight seemed totally uninterested with me

got a quote this morning via A-plan with Group Arma at 399 :D - that is more like it! just seeing if my existing broker will beat it now and take stock of the 18's on the s4

final closing remarks

had a quote from primo plc who gave me a price for my two audis at 680 all in, 340 per vehicle which I thought was pretty good. they specialise in multicar households i.e. 1 person 2 cars, 2 person 3 cars - friendly to mods too
