ECS RACE N75 Valve

Post by zeke » Mon Feb 10, 2003 7:08 pm

Have anybody install this type of valve on the RS4?

Not sure if anyone has tried this before on an RS4, although is seems to get some good reviews in the States - increasing boost up to 0.2bar on standard or chipped

Not sure what benefits we will gain on modified RS4's as the ECU control over the standard valve is different regarding boost levels anyhow. Still worth checking out though

will this not affect the way the ECU works out fuelling and safegauarding of the engine because it is effectively tricking the ECU into overboosting?

I think the ECU may compensate for the fuelling to some extent, especially as the increased boost will attract more air - not really sure mate, but it doesn't sound particularly safe does it

Be interesting to know if anyone over here has one fitted.

fwiw, that ecs valve doesn't work on the S4 here in the states. the boost spikes to above 1.5 bar, then the ecu shuts the car down a bit by pulling the throttle shut. I guess some TT guys had good luck with it. You might want to just consider leaving the N75 plugged in and run a manual boost controller Just as long as you don't cross the max pressure that the sensor can read(1.5Bar), you'll be ok. But the ECU can't throw your car into limp now, because it has no control over the wastegates any more. So you lose 1 safegaurd by using an MBC.

If you have to goto those lengths to use the valve it would more than likely be cheaper, safer and give better results by just having the car proffesionally chipped!

Maybe we can put the valve N75 and added a blow off valve just in case there is too much boost.

hmmm, but the turbo systems on these cars work on a closed loop anyway so all air into the engine in metered so that may also affect it too.

don't do it unless you are stock. S4s in the US has reported positve results in stock format, but negative in chipped formats.

I think the general concensus for 2.7 S4's is that unless your standard, don't do it.

BTW, it is a std Audi part and VAG-parts can get hold of it (circa. £30'ish) - see this thread for more info.

Like they have said before ... the ECS valve is good when you have a stock mapping ... when chipped it can make your boost to spike and even cause limp mode... you don´t really want to use it on your MTM´ed RS4 :D :D :D ..... I know this because I have tried all kinds of N75s in my 1.8T ;) ... also the ECS N75 is an original part from Audi used in Rs2s ... they only erase the Audi codes from it and sell them like gold :?

By the way .... there is a way that close looped turboed systems can run Blow Off valves ;) ...... those are the hybrid BOVs ... I have run a Go Fast Bits for several months now on my 1.8T and have had no problems at all ..... http://www.gofastbits.com/index.php?par ... stealth_fx these hybrids vent out to the exterior and also to the intake system so that your ECUs don´t pull ut a code ;) .... there is even a sepcial kit made for al 2.7 Biturbos made by Aussie Turbosmart ... look here: http://www.turbosmart.com.au/ .... go to products, then to Compact Series and then roll down to the bottom of the page ;)

Regards !

Robo :)
