There are three options....

1. The prefered way of posting a picture is to attach it to a post. To do this you must make the image below 55Kb. Create a post and select 'preview/attach file' -> attach the file and complete the post. Then view the post and view the attached picture -> copy the location (images/rsul/....) and then edit your post and paste the location into the 'Image Instant UBB Code'
Should look like this [image] images/rsul/.... [/image] (No spaces)

2. Create your own Gallery and link to the pictures in the Gallery. Please do not insert huge pictures into the posts as it is dial-up unfriendly. If the pictures are huge, then you can link to them in a post by using the 'URL Instant UBB Code' and you will get something like this [url=http:// <a href="http://gallery.rs246.com/albums/TurkS4/....]http://gallery.rs246.com/albums/TurkS4/....[/url] " target="_blank"> http://gallery.rs246.com/albums/TurkS4/.... </a> (Again no spaces)

3. When all else fails, ask a Moderator or Admin to help.

HTH,

I tried the above (1) and attached the pic but the URL is merely www.rs246.com how do I place the image in the message? see '64 cooper S in 'for sale' forum...

Thanks

Ok here we go...
When making a post, after typing your text click on "continue" at the bottom of the new post page, making sure the "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file" box is ticked. On the next page you can attach an image (stored on your local machine) by clicking on the "You may attach a file if you like (no bigger than 50000 bytes please)." by directing to your folder where your image is stored.
You will then continue and your post will be entered with the file attached. If you want to have your picture displayed in your post, click the attachment of your new post wch will open up your attachment in your browser. Right click this photo and click on properties. Copy (ctl+c) the file name properties. eg images/rsul/10604-minix.jpg by highlighting them. Go back to your post and edit it. Whever you want your photo placed within your text, place your cursor there by clicking then click on the image text under "instant UBB code". This will bring up a box where you should paste (ctl+v) the properties of your photo you previously copied. Hit ok and then continue and you should have your photo within your post...

Hope this helps...

you need to get the image on a place that is available to the internet

so you file on your C:\ drive needs to be either uploaded as an attachement or put into the gallery, either option then requires you to link the uploaded url to the insert image command

for example, I have uploaded a file off my hard drive to my gallery, then i go to the image in my gallery and copy the url (http://gallery.rs246.com/cgi-bin/album. ... Medium.JPG), i can then either edit my post or insert in a new post by using the image command below so that i get the following

[image]http://gallery.rs246.com/cgi-bin/album. ... Medium.JPG[/image]

An alternative would be to host an image on another saerver, such as my sig which is hosted on my extremecarcare server and links to here

I hope this helps

you can only use the [image] function if your url finishes with the picturename.jpg (other extensions work as well) [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]
