RS4 IN IRELAND - MORGAN CARS

Post by RS4audi » Thu Jun 19, 2008 11:18 am

Hi,

I am new to this forum but constantly read about the rs4s on this forum, think its fab.

I am looking to buy a RS4, I have seen one in ireland on Autotrader in a car dealership Morgan Cars.

I was wondering is there any downfalls in buying a car from Ireland or is there any other tax to pay , or is there anything i should avoid.

The link for the car is here

http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/47176/mc.htm

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Not sure about the Irish question, but the car looks good. Alu trim is the only (slightly) unusual choice, but I guess it lifts a black car. Hasn't got the silly MF wheel, and you can remove the phone cradle if you want. It's a pre-2007 model (from the amber indicators) but there's no real difference. Might be an idea to establish the exact age, as the warranty is for three years and you are bound to need new shocks...

Good Luck

It's the same as buying from the UK because it IS the UK.
No extra tax, drive away and either keep the NI plate or get it re-registered with DVLA on the appropriate "date plate".

The car is nice, I'd make a day of it and go and test drive their M3, M5, M6 and 911 too. :P

Just for your info. The car has been around for a while for a reason! I had someone look at it and lets just say woof woof springs to mind. Personally I would stay well clear of it, there are plenty of nice examples around.

Out of interest, what makes it a bad car? General condition, or something more fundamental?

Buy from a Main Dealer and you can give it back if there are any faults found, within a certain time limit, costs a bit extra but worth it for peace of mind IMHO
Mint Optic Pack saloon in Daytona Grey (Now sold)
B7 RS4 in Sprint Blue (Gone to a very good new home)
Evo V1 (wish i'd kept)
Numerous M3s

If I was to buy from a main dealer i would be paying 7k on top, which in mymind too much money for exactly the same service. I have bougth cars from main dealers before and i think there service is up to scrath.

I would have thought by having the Audi warranty there would be no diffference buying from Audi or any other garage.

They would be both second hand cars but the stealers obviously have a lot more of a margin

A cop i know on the serious crime squad raided their premises in an "alleged" fraud involving Audi (Belfast). I was told £250,000 worth of Audi OEM Bodykits went missing and they knocked on his door. His cars are everywhere, all Audi's with OEM bodykits, fitted poortly IMO. I bought a set of alloys from him for my Golf GTi and they were refurbished but sold as new ! When one cracked he tried to sell me a full "new" set. I wouldnt go back near 'em !

Floyd, I notice the cars no longer advertised so unable to comment on the mota. Does it come with a warranty? and is it Audi's.
My advise...if your not sure walk away....there's plenty out there and some good deals to make your grand back on. Try FA Roper they have a 57 plate in black which is a nice car (I've seen it in the flesh) and Kenny Dunn Cars usually has a nice high spec one in stock. Dont think cars are good cos they are coming from a main dealer cos its not the case.
Hope you get sorted buddy.

Cheers Chris - It's no longer advertised because I asked him to remove it from their site & autotrader as I have as near as bought it. It looks mint so I need to know what 'woof woof' 'being a bit of a dog' means. Any facts? or is this a suspicion cause the cars been for sale for a while? Am genuinely interested. It has 13 months of Audi Manufacturers Warranty so thats give peace of mind. I really need to understand if the negative press it's getting is fact or opinion. Tomorrow I will call the Police as see if they have info, the HPI is clear so am happy with that, I'll also call Audi and see if they have info. RSVirgin, please share any more info you have, likewise 22MPL

In the meant time I'll check out FA Roper and Dunn Cars - Thanks all
