Is This right?

Post by s4-99 » Fri Jun 13, 2008 8:01 pm

Went to collect my car from the body shop today after having a full spray. To cut a long story short it's going back in for a bit longer as i'm not happy with a few bit's. I took a couple pics of the front bumper where it joins the arch liner, can you tell me if the rivets are in the right place as i cant remember seeing them before it went in? Also my front bumper isn't lining up correcly at the corner's. Is there any adjustment that can be made?

Yeah i remember now Darren.....I think mine came to something like 1900 not including badges and mouldings....

Dont get me wrong the paint job looks sweet, i'll be posting some pics once it's all sorted. It's just a few little bit's i'm not happy with that they have to sort. Apparently Nationwide only get £900 per car what ever the damage. IE: If you needed just a wing mirror or door repaired & painted they would get £900 from the insurance. If like me you have a full hit they still only get £900 from the insurance. Not sure how true it is but if thats the case they lost out big time on mine

The front bumper is doin my head in now as i want to know why they put rivvets in if there not supposed to be there....

Duane.

looks like they may have busted something behind there, or cant get it to sit back....... don't touch it though, make them do it.......touch it and they will say its you.

My mate told me they only charge 25 per hour, so you could be right...... service deps are charging like 70-80-+++++ so maybe.

No i'm not going to touch anything mate. So are you saying that them rivvets shouldn't be there? Has your car got them, or has anyones car got them?

If anyone could take a photo of their inner arch where the front bumper meets like i have, so i can show the garage how it should be. I would really appreciate it.....
I just need to know if they have bodged it, so i know exactly what i'm saying when it goes back in on Tuesday....

Thanks all....

MCB linked to a 'how to' on fixing the misalignment issue. Looks like Nationwide have wrestled the bumper off and bent down the metal holding the bumper brackets.

I have them on mine, but to me rivets suggest a bodge job!

I'm confused now...lol....So does that mean that your bumper has been bodged too if you have them? No seriously should they not be there then? or should it be torx screws?

I have just had a look on my car and the rivets on mine are black ( to match in with wheel arch liner i guess!) so i would presume yours have been drilled out and replaced, as they look to be in the right place.
The lower one is a torx bolt and again black in colour.

rivets should be there

it is common for the bumpers not to align on rs4 intercooler cars becasue the ics push on hte bumper. The design of hte clip on bumper mounts is crap - you have ot use force to remove - the plastic mounts can deform over time - and hte metal part of hte wing can be adjusted if you still have the part htat bolts onto the front panel.
