Matt is there any chance you could ask for one of the "marked" bits they take off? I'd pay postage and any costs if you could then send it to me, as i'm needing one to try a few things on and too see exactly how it fits on. Thanks.

Thought i'd make an update to this as seen/read about a few of these now. I got mine replaced under warranty, took 2 goes but got there in the end! Got a look at the car the night before i picked it up and the removed strips we're on the back seat, looks like they used a fair bit of brute force to get them off! Not what i'd been led to believe by elsawin etc but the new ones are now fitted and makes a big difference imho :)

Excellent news, how did you go about it? i.e. did you have to contact Audi UK or just the local dealer.

My only concern would be given the state of the removed trims has the paint be damaged underneath?

Any chance you can pm me the dealer who did the work so i can use them as an example with mine?

Cheers.

My way around it was that i had sections coming up from the bottom of the strip if that makes sense (looked like it was seeping upwards if you look at the pic) and said i would fight it as something had obviously got in behind it rather than anything acid based "burning" its way through it if that makes sense.
They've left no visible signs to paint on the doors (which was what i was worried about) but i don't know what its like underneath the strips. This would obviously be covered by the 10 year anti corrosion warranty though ;)

They might but i'm sure its a Traffic Film Remover that a garage (audi or other) has used in the past that has caused the damage and not anything i have or will use so with my "do not valet" signs fitted whenever it goes near a garage hopefully i can control the situation to a certain degree. Regards the black optics all i'll say is there not foolproof either going by the ones i've looked at in the last 2 wekks ;)

I was informed by a friend at the stealers that its, as mentioned by others the traffic film degreaser.
If you wash it off quick it will not do any harm, but leave it too long. ooooopppppssss
I got the problem from being sprayed at the local polish car wash and sitting in the Q waiting for a wash down.
Never again
