Fuel prices effecting resale value of our cars
Fuel prices effecting resale value of our cars
Has any one seen or heard of any price drop in a resale value of our cars due to the current fuel prices?
Was chatting to a friend who was at a Auction in Birmingham, he was shocked at the amount of new cars that was being sold for a 3r of the price esp 4x4s, (Rage Rover Vogue 06, 17k!) do you guys thin this will have a knock on effect to our cars or do you think that the RS badge will keep its resale value up?

RE: Fuel prices effecting resale value of our cars
I think the overall economy is in freefall. Fuel prices, food prices & general living expenses going through the roof. House & car prices falling so fast it's frightening. Naturally the massive hike in fuel & RFL prices will hit gas guzzlers harder than economical cars. The RS badge will command some price respect but just look at the prices on PH currently as many 12mth old cars are in the very low £40K & down into the high £30's.

I'd be surprised if fuel economy figures high on the list for many RS buyers...
Anyway, the faster we contribute to global warming the less energy we need to stay warm so what the eco-nazis don't realise is we're doing them a favour....

My RS4 is my only hobby, I don't golf, fish, sail, shoot, hunt so as long as I can work and make the money to run my car that is what I will do.
There is no better way to start my day than firing up what is the best car I have ever owned and enjoying every minute driving it.
There is no way I could do, transport wise, with my business/ 3 kids, using public transport so i'm just going to have to keep on paying whatever the market price is for my petrol.
Getting back to your original question, no, there will always be buyers out there for what I would call a "niche market" for our cars, there are not thousands of our models on the roads and there will always be enthusiasts out there, like all of us, who will go to the ends of the earth to own one !!
Don't worry what your car is going to be worth 3/4 years down the line, enjoy every day with it now !!

Likewise, and the recent slow down in the economy has only reinforcd what I was thinking anyway, which is I'm keeping mjy RS4 for the long haul and it will probably be my last big N/A engined car. I don't really need another car once I have my daily commuter, the RS will be used less frequently and I'll enjoy it even more in the moments I get to.
enjoy it now, motors like this will become a thing of the past very quickly.
It started by targeting 4x4 but will end up being everything over 200g Co2
Fuel + Tax + Credit Crunch = huge drop in second hand prices

Take a look at Audi website.
06 cars with high mileage not that cheap, only 9 in Sprint Blue, my choice, for sale, only 45 cars in total
In 3 years time after some will have been written off/stolen, low mileage FMDASH minters will be worth good money IMO

3 years time expect no more than 40 % of its new value.
