Back boxes

Post by Mo_S3 » Tue Oct 07, 2003 12:18 pm

Im thinking of changing my back box on my S3 and was looking at a few maufacturers to use, ie Remus, Supersprint and Milltek. All have a similar price range of around £3-400 for the boxes alone plus the centre pipe if i wanted it now or at a later date.

Whilst i also understand that im not going to see any noticable gain to my car performance except that it should breathe a bit better due them being a bit more free flowing.

I would like to stress that i DO NOT want a noisy system that drones and booms in the cabin when cruising or even when pressing on. I have owned a Remus in the past and found it to be very very good in every aspect.

The final and more doable route is having one custom made from a local reputable dealer to the exact spec and sound that i require.

What do u think ??

I am in exactly the same boat and want exactly what you have described. I have spoken to Miltek and they ensure me that the noise of their exhaust is no louder than standard but it does have a slightly more sporty note!! (dont exactly know how that works) I have seen the Miltek back box and the apperence is good, tailpipes are slightly larger than the standard (but only slightly, and totally exceptable) and the quality looks good. But I'd like an owners opinion of one before purchasing. If you decide on an exhaust post your finding and a few pictures of it fitted.

Ive spoken to a freind of mine who has a Milltek on his S2 and his only complaint is that it is a bit too quiet, otherwise a well made system.

the original back box is very restrictive from someof the cutaways pictures that i have seen of it and any box that it replaces it will definately be an improvement.
Just need to decide as to which one i should go for.

Swaying towards a custom made one.

Milltek systems come with lifetime warranty too IIRC.
