The car itself looks a bit naff, but those IHI cars are seriously quick. I drove an A3 1.8T with an IHI (Jabbasport's demo down in Peterborough) and it was rapid!

Granted, it was before my RS6 days; it was back in 2005 so I can't reliably compare performance, but I do remember that it was the fastest thing I had ever driven at the time.

The golf has 300bhp and probably weighs just over a tonne. The rs4 would have a hard time matching that power to weight...

But of course he has ultra grippy 2wd.

In the real world that car would not beat an RS4, in a straight line or round the bendy bits!

But he knows as he owns/owned both.

If the information provided is correct, the RS4 should have it off the line with its Quattro. However, once rolling and in-gear (i.e. once grip has been found) the IHI Golf would give the RS4 trouble.

Just been on letstorquebhp.com's performance calculator. Ok, I know it is hypothetical but it is fairly accurate in their estimations of cars. According to the calculations:

Golf IHI 0-60 = 4.5 (hmmm)
Golf IHI 0-100 = 10.28
Golf IHI 1/4 mile = 12.8 @ 111.64mph

According to their calculations of an RS4, it should see 60mph in 4.5 and 100mph in 10.9 with a 13.1 second 1/4 mile @ 109.57mph.

This is all hypothetical. I reckon it is a close call and a race like that would be all down to driver ability and reactions.

I am in no way criticising the RS4 here by the way. I'd take the RS4 any day, better looks, better in the wet and better handling! A proper car out of the box!!!

And a lot safer!! Dont get be wrong the mark one cab golf was a nice car back in the day and still in good condition is a head turner now BUT it was not designed to go that fast or handle this amount of power. I know if I hit something I would much rather be in by RS than a car designed 20 + years ago
