Got to be said guys, and no offence meant I promise, but this is one sad thread.
Robbo,

No offence taken but.......

It's not sad at all, it's just different people have different priorities in their lives. You’re probably a busy chap and have worked hard for your RS4 and come the weekend might want to spend time with the family etc and cleaning your car is the last thing on your mind. For others like Graham, MacusRS4, Anyuk911, Myself and many others cleaning our cars is not a chore it’s a very enjoyable experience. It may sound sad but I really enjoy looking at my hard work and seeing how good the car I have worked my butt off for can look. The other important fact is that looking after your car in this way can mean alot if and when you come to sell it. I know for sure that my car is in better condition now than when I bought it. There are guys out there with fiesta’s that you could eat your dinner off, it’s not because they are sad they just take a great deal of pride in their car. You should give it a go you might even like it  .

Cheers

Jim
Well put Jim!! I work by butt off (just to pay for petrol at the mo!!!!!) and i find it therapeutic to clean my car, a way to switch off. I usually do it late at night or really early, lock my self in the garage with the radio on and enjoy my Zymol products! Hope that doesn't sound dodgy!!!

Can see your point(s) and again, not meant to be antagonistic etc.

I agree, different people enjoy different pass times......cleaning the inside rim of an alloy wheel however would not register near the top for me personally.

Obviously I read the thread from time to time, and I've come to the conclusion that possibly for some, the car can cause as much worry as enjoyment.

Is it clean...can it be cleaner ?, what about shock leakage and does mine leak ?, is there a new model coming out ?, did I choose the right colour ?, is the M3 a nano second quicker ?.....etc..

Realise this is an enthusiasts forum, and I suppose I treat the RS as a car rather than a significant part of my life/recreation.

Each to their own I guess.

I would hazzard a guess that most if not all on here including me have a slight compulsive cleaning disorder. i think by virtue of the fact that we have loined an owners forum indicates that we are not of the same ilk as normal people. There is hope for you though you have made the first step by posting, the next will be a lambswool wash mitt. :D

Ironically, my own company manufacture's a very successful main brand car wax under license for a major company, so I should encourage these mad cleaning regimes as much as possible.

I guess you've hit the nail on the head there really. My RS4 is not just a car to me, I don't earn a lot of money and it has taken me many years to get to this kind of level in cars - probably the same for a few others on here too - and I cherish it because it hasn't been easy getting there along the way and it is a significant part of my life.

From the sound of it then your RS4 is 'Just another car' to you, nothing wrong in that at all but just remember that not all people look at there cars in that way, especially as you say, this is a specialist car forum.

Just another car for now, but as he's not bothered about shock leakage, it'll soon be just another shed!

Have to say guys I've been lisening intently to all of this and I can't help but wonder is it all really worth it!
I generally wash and shammy every week, I will even do it twice a week sometimes, but it is only for a short period of time - roughly 1 hour. Ocasionally I have devoted all Sunday to the cause only to draw back the bloody curtain on Monday morning to a typical British day - 10 mins on these sh**ty roads of ours and I may as well not have bothered.
Having said that you have to keep at regardless of the weather we have as over time nature can get a grip. My wife purchase a new £32k freelander with all the trimmings, if it's lucky it gets washed once a month and normally by me. Just before we sold her last freelander I was scraping MOSS of the rubber window seals. I don't know - each to their own I guess.
