Obviously a dreamer with long pockets and short arms if he can't raise 16K for an '01!! Thats a full 10K less than I paid for mine- admittedly mine had less miles and some mods but 10K less#-~#!! If its straight its got to be the deal of the year- I got 19.5k privately for my last one- a standard, one previous owner 2000X in Avus with 65000miles only last May- can't believe the bottoms dropped out of the market?!

Does seem very cheap considering (what looks to be) a good conditioned car.
However, not all may be as it seems... tempted to go down and have a look...

As people have said on here there is a reason usually why cars are priced as they are. This does look nice but get down there and it might be another story.

I mate of mine bought an X reg a month ago and he looked at a good few cars and he said that there were some really tatty ones out there.

In the end he got a good clean example with 80k miles on it for about 18.5k so he still got a good deal.

The market has dropped a bit but then haven't all cars what with the price of fuel and also the new VED bandings hitting the second hand market hard.

I wouldn't say it's dropped out looking everything else on PH classifieds - I guess this why the non-sale of this car is nagging me - it affects everybody else's residual values when a car this attractive (on paper) is looking so cheap.
If the owner (who's a member) wants to bring it to me for an unbiased FOC checkover so I can report back feel free, I am not far.

I have to agree having helped a friend find one in Feb

It's not dropped out, I wouldn't go that far at all but it's slowed. People simply don't have the money to be spunking on a sport car that does on average 20mpg and even worse when you boot it. I must admit I do begrudge sticking 50 notes in my car and getting only 250 miles out of it but I love cars and it's my choice.

Just look on PH classifieds for cars like the Mondeo ST which is in the higher VED bands and does similar MPG to our and there are loads on there. People want out of their fancy cars and into something cheaper to run.

If you do a filter search on RS4 for years 2000 to 2004 you get all the B5's (currently three pages worth) and imo I wouldn't really go off the first page if I was looking for a replacement for mine. I still think you need to spend over the 20k mark to get a really nice, low-mileage example.

50 squid for 250 miles? That sounds cheap! Last time I filled up with Tesco 99 it cost me over £60 for 3/4 of a tank (122.9p/l).

Still, made me chuckle when I saw the 'sensible' oil burners paying 130p a litre... at Tesco

When it hits 150p/l I'm buying a 2nd car to save money.. maybe a Sinclair C5

Thats a lot of mullah- mine was running on fumes Friday- filled up on the M5 with Total? Super- £75!!
Mr RS4SH- you could do worse than a Smart- and before you start thinking I'm a flash git I have to tell you I work in hospitals where parking is ALWAYS a problem- the look on the faces of the 4x4 brigade as I nose (no parallel parking for me) into the tiniest gaps between cars is priceless- cheap as chips to run too- had mine since 2004 and its never missed a beat/let me down from commutes to work to 600 mile weekend round trips from N Yorks to Gosport every other week and 50 the gallon- get one before the market gets onto them. If you can deal with the obvious p*** takes (I'm 6'2" and 17 stone) its a riot...... :D

I can get a full tank on 50 notes yes, I fill up when it's on 40 miles left so almost full tank, why do all these threads go into a I got 80 notes in type competition when someone states they put whatever money into their tank :D

Anyway , it's not a cheap car to run is it to be fair.

I'm 6'2" too. I did hire a Smart car in St Peter Port Guernsey once and took it up the hill climb course (after they'd finished) - not quite as quick as the real go-karts and I did worry it was going to topple over a couple of times but it was good fun. Took it all round the island and I swear the fuel guage never even moved!

I think £50 a tank is OK but if it got towards £100

It's just a sensitive time for us all when we go and donate so much of our hard earned to Mr Brown, sorry Mr Darling!

Going to take a look at this one if I can... not too far from me and ideally looking for a Noggy :D

Shame about the painted mirrors and no sat-nav, but other boxes are ticked with this one so we shall see...
