Warrenty recommendation

Post by fade2grey » Mon Sep 29, 2003 11:57 am

Hi guys (& gals)

first off, hello! I've just joined so be nice

I'm looking at buying a 1998 S4 Avant (67k). I'm after an extended warrenty - does anyone have any recommendations? I've just spoken to the local Audi dealer & they are wanting £1080 for 12 months, which seems a bit steep to me. Are there any decent alternatives? also are there any specific things I should be looking to cover - ie exhaust manifolds etc (not covered by Audi).

Cheers,
Alex

anyone had dealings with warrenty direct? (www.warrentydirect.com) - they seem to cover everything at 1/3 the price of audi. Confirmed quote from the local dealer in Newcastle of 1088 per year (5yr+ car with 66k). Any experiences?

I might be wrong but every time I've looked at these non-supplier warranties they are not anywhere near as comprehensive as the manufacturer's extended warranty

My warranty expires in about 3000 miles so i have been looking into this and feel that the £1000 per year isnt worth it

I know if something packs up it is going to be excluded and even if it is included £100 is quite a large sum to get some of these works done

So I am going to risk it, whichever way you look at it there is an unknown cost, so leave it all as unknown is my theory
Can't beat a bit of boost!

sounds like a plan. All I'm after is cover for major failures as it wouldn't be easy to cover a 5k turbo's bill. At least the one mentioned above covers wear & tear as well as the manifolds etc. so at ~350 a year I figure it's worth it for a little peace of mind.

so what is the mileage limit for the warranty ?

I assumed it was 3 years, but realise they probably set a top limit on miles too.
Hmm, maybe I'm closer to renewing it than I thought

Hi All
With my last A4 2.5 TDI Quattro, I had the Audi extended warranty as soon as I went over the 60K mark up until I sold it for my new S4. I believe I paid out approx £2500 in payments to the dealer but had approx £6000 worth of work undertaken against the warranty.
I my case I'm very glad i had the warranty.
