P1130 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0000 0000
Hello I am getting above code, can you please advise me where to start looking. as you can see its only on bank 2 ( thats the drivers side?)
what do I have to do or log to look deeper please.

RE: S4 code help
ok, thank you. if it was a maf, why only one bank. (bank2)

All IMHO - I am a petrol head, not a mechanic.
clear the error and see if it returns.
I think that if the MAF was dead you'd likely be lean on both banks. If you had an airleak between MAF and turbo intakes both banks would be lean. An intake pressure test would not hurt all the same. If it was a leak after the turbos it'd run rich.
Disconnect the MAF from the harness and see if it runs lean on bank 2 again after clearing the error again.
If you are really running lean on bank 2 then it's likely that you have high egt - block 112 I think (you don't name car or year). If it gets hot enough to move the reading from 945 it's lean! If not it might be an O2 sensor issue.
Another way to double check the O2 sensor if it's lean on one side is to read the plugs of both banks. If the O2 sensor is iffy and reporting lean to the ecu, the ecu will enrich beyond what is necessary, and your plugs will be sooty. If it really is lean then the plugs will be white with flecks of brown and possibly cracked or pitted. ( http://www.dansmc.com/Spark_Plugs/Spark ... talog.html - google it for more links).
Another outside chance is the fuel filter. If it's blocked (google it) then there may be enough fuel for bank 1 but as the rail crosses to bank two the pressure may have sagged starving that bank. Fuel trims will help - additive trim will be low (low rpm, not much fuel needed) but multiplicative trim will be higher (higher load, more fuel needed) for this case.
What are your fuel trims, block 32?
What state of tune is the car, what is the peak maf value?
For my money I'd be pointing the finger at the O2 sensor and looking at the colour of the plug tips to confirm.
As I said I'm no mechanic. If anyone disagres shout up and educate me too.

S4 - no longer missing 1 engine. Last seen leaving trailing black lines of gearbox oil.
wow what a really cool reply... and thank you for taking the time to do this.
I know cars from old, but I am not to hot with the vag-com... so you will have to give me a basic, click here and measure this tab Joby!
the car is a 1998, and has just 36K on it, the guy lived 5 doors down from me, and was the only owner.... wait for it.... he was 79..! and bought it when he was 70, but sadly his wife passed away and he no longer wanted to drive.
It has a GIAC stage 1, and was running fine, I have replaced all the green valves, the spider, the F hose, and its nice grey valve on top of the F, all the filters are new. I still get a some air loss out of the spider breather, that goes into the Y pipe, but I don't know if this is normal? anyway back to this.

this was just done at idle, at 90 degrees.
I thought that you could not measure the EGT on the 1998 cars.
If you tell me what tests to run I will do this,
Thank you

Pre face lift = not much from block 112, you are right. FWIW you have to drive the car fairly hard whilst a friend watches vagcom to make it hot.
The link by Yorkie has some good info about fuel trims, much better than I could manage.
Did you clear the codes, did it come back?
Did the code reappear with the MAF disconnected?
From here I think your course is easy: pull the plugs and lay them out in order.
Are both banks' plugs looking the same?
Is bank 2 sooty? (ie running rich) - yes = replace the O2 sensor.
Is bank 2 white / very light brown? (ie very hot due to lean condition) = potential fuel pressure / delivery issue on one or more cylinders of bank 2. If one of the three plugs is different on bank 2 it might indicate which cylinder is faulty.
It's a shame S2tuner didn't have time to answer your request for help more fully Darren... Still given his presence, and the lack of any rebuttal for my first post, we may be on the right track.

Yes as soon as I saw him on the post I thought........ I am in for a hard time. ( he was ok) yes I did have a good read of the fuel trip post, thank you.. I am still not sure of the solution, the code does come back... but I have not done it with the Maf plug off. I don't understand why there is a reading only on 1 EGT, in Vag-com, is that just GIAC? I know (think I do ?) that the egt sensors don't kick in till 925 I think. so are all the Enrichment Factor % just telly me crap and ignore them? just look at the fault code I first had.. Like I said would the maf just be a problem on one bank? I can see that. Ill look at the plugs, ..... I think I should reset, leave the battery off, and go do some logs? Is there any you think I should be logging.
Thanks
Darren
Thanks
Darren
OK I pulled both banks, I cant really see a lot it them, maybe slight on bank 2, the plugs are very new, they are fairly chocolate, so they look ok, like I said maybe slightly on B2 but when you look are at it...not a lot.spen wrote:I don't know about pre face lift cars. Can't comment on GIAC.
Pull the spark plugs. They give a direct report on the combustion events. You should be able to see if bank 2 really is lean...
I know you said you don't know about pre facelift cars on 112, but the feeling I am getting is do not read 112 on a pre facelift as (GIAC) the reading are not correct, can anyone confirm this?
I don't know what really to look at next, or what to log.
Darren
I don't know what to suggest next either beyond swapping the O2 sensors over, bank1 to bank2 and seeing if the fault moves or just swapping the O2 sensor with a new one.
Whereabouts are you, is there anyone with a wideband o2 sensor nearby?
