Dead Battery & Guildfrod Audi

Post by JohnW » Mon Oct 06, 2003 11:18 am

Well, after having a few starting problems I dropped the car off at Guildford Audi last week for them to check the battery.
This they did, and replaced it under warranty. They also washed & cleaned the car, which was nice.

What wasn't so nice was to find a couple of paint chips and scratches on the bumper/rear tailgate that were not there on the inspection when I dropped it off
Cheeky feckers even tried to touch in one of the marks, which I guess is from contacting a wall.

They are going to sort this out this week, but just be aware that a very good inspection prior to leaving the car is a must.

Oh, and going to pick your car up on a Saturday morning isn't a very good move either - had to wait around 40 minutes just to get my keys back as they were so busy...

Cheers,
John.

That's a bummer. At least you noticed immediately and they are sorting it for you. I had a similar experience myself but without the inspection to back up my claims. Fortunately the car had only just come out of the bodyshop having had the front bumper repainted, so they could say it wasn't them all they liked but if they did then it must have been the bodyshop
They sorted it for me no problem in the end and now I insist they check the car before I hand over the keys. Be warned though - this can be pretty disheartening as they mark *every* blemish. I left my car thinking it was a write-off based on the inspection

Yeah,
the service guy was pretty good really.

He inspected the car when I left it, and I pointed out the only mark I knew of on the car.
When I went to pick it up I spoke with the same guy and said I had had a pre-walk around the car while waiting for him to get to me, and was not happy.

He came out and agreed the marks were not there when he checked it, so no arguments, just said "we'll have it in and sort it".
I guess he couldn't really do anything else.

Not too happy really as I don't like having to have paint done on cars incase a colour mismatch develops later.
He did agree to sort out another issue on the car foc though, and also mentioned booking it in for a pre-inspection prior to extending the warranty.

Did any of you lot have to have this pre-inspection ?
Costs 60 quid apparently.

Cheers,
John. (wondering whether I'll trust them to do the service when it is due)

I extended mine recently with Epsom Audi - they've never even seen the car.

Thanks Guys,

I wonder if this inspection is for them to try to pick up some jobs that need doing under the warranty before it runs out.
After all, they know it has fsh anyway so no problem there, and would get paid for it twice, eh (from me for the inspection and by Audi for doing the work).

Fingers crossed they sort the paintwork out okay, else I might end up throwing my toys out the pram...
