Anyone done the Audi VIP Le Mans trip ?

Post by victor2vt » Fri May 23, 2008 5:41 pm

Just been invited to this years Le Mans by Audi staying in their campsite

from Thursday 12th June to Monday 16th.

For £600 per person you get grandstand seat a tent all ready for you with

airbed mattresses, but here's the best bit, complimentary bar and food

throughout your stay !!!

You've got to make your own way there.

Just wanted anyone's views good and bad if they have done it as i've never been.

Thanks

Was tempted - got the invite too but not sure if I can drag along any mates to take the cost down to £600.

Just received the email too - £1200 to sleep in a tent seems a tad expensive - But as Ive not been to LM before maybe thats the going rate. I'll be watching LM on Eurosport.

Methinks with the credit crunch along with everything else they're finding it hard to shift tickets.
If they've commited to the site, which they must have by this late stage, could see some 'deals' coming.............

add abut £400 in fuel and £200 in eurostar and it starts getting rather expensive.

Yes, think what would you could do to your RS4 with the £1,200 it would

cost you to go, on your own, to an Audi campsite for 5 days ?

Seems a tad expensive, thought no doubt fun. We are doing it for about £165 each including camping, tunnel and tickets by booking direct.

I guess all campsites are full now, but there are some VIP packages being offered in the back of Autosport I noticed.

See some of you there - Maison Blanche Campsite

I went last year (my first Le Mans) and I would say that if money's not an issue then do it - it's the 'easy' way to do Le Mans. It's a good trip but personally I don't feel it's worth the £1200 a tent that they're charging this year. Last year it was £800 and we felt that was fairly good value considering what was included. You get a pre-pitched tent (big enough for two double berths), deep airbeds, a set of four Audi-embroidered towels, free copies of Evo, a torch, ear plugs, sun tan lotion (not that we needed any last year :( ), 24h secure parking, grandstand tickets, literally as much as you can eat and drink for all the time you're there on a 24x7 basis, showers, clean toilets, visit from Radio Le Mans and welcome from Jeremy Hicks (champagne reception), access to the R8 in the compound for the whole weekend (pre-launch last year), plenty of cover from sun/rain (mostly rain in '07!), plasma TVs covering the race live, radio Le Mans earpiece, a Chateaux pit stop on the journey down (food, drink, mag, massage etc.), manned security and very helpful staff for guidance and advice etc. It was all very professionally organised and when we added up the cost of doing everything ourselves it did look like good value when all we had to go was get there. £1200 is just too much to swallow this time around though and for this reason we're giving it a miss this year.

Mockenrue
Thanks very much for all that info, very helpful.
To put prices up as much as that in a year is a bit OTT
I'll be putting the £1200 towards fuelling my RS4 on trackdays, and me :drink: much more fun !!

We are doing it 'super pikey' this year, staying at Mulsanne campsite, late ferry to Dunkirk, Bio diesel in Vans - it is costing £82.00 each. However will spend approx £500.00 there.

Anyway one year I would love to do the VIP thang - just for a change. Not sure if it would take away anything from the Le mans experience though?

Trouble is, the only thing I get from Audi is a magazine every quarter... Bastards
