"Light repair to the front"

Post by KenM » Thu May 15, 2008 11:08 am

Anyone see the crashed RS4 on pistonheads? Category D
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/505605.htm

Don't know if its anyone on here but I don't think its a light repair... just from looking at the pics:
bonnet
wings
bumper
radiator
air con radiator
oil intercoolers
rear passenger door
rear quarter panel
headlights
indicators
airbag

and probably quite a few more things under the bonnet. Still looking for £13,500. A little optimistic in my opinion.

Basics are good... 2002 and early 60K miles but even still. Value of a cat D even when its put right is probably about 17K at best.

If you can't afford a straight one, don't buy that one!
It'll also need an airbag controller @ £400 ish.
I'd also be surprised if it hasn't taken the slam panel as the bonnet catch takes all the force and the panel's only plastic.
If it was that easy, I am sure the seller would have repaired it themselves.
Shame if it is a genuine low mileage 1 owner car - reg suggests its originally from Essex....

Begs the question though... how many UK examples of the B5 RS4 are there left?
Surely can't be 400 now - I guesstimate this figure to be somewhere between 250-300, making our cars even more rare and exclusive
Soon, the only ones left will be those owned by us enthusiasts... (if not already)

Agree with the above!

Again as stated I would never buy one in this state. If you can't afford the real one, then why bother. Plus even after you've repaired it, it will never be like factory, plus you'll still have that in the back of your head!

Would have been a real nice car if it wasn't in this state.

...51 plate as well, which means high tax rates

Like R33V-Spec says, would be a nice example had it not be in this state - I'd say now only worth it's salvageable parts for people like us...

I don't know about others, but this car would hardly be worth any value to me, considering it's state. Even if I was after a cheap way into RS4 ownership, this would never feel right for me.

Rather buy a high miler, but without any accident history!

Just my views

It would make a great doner for a S4 to RS4 conversion.
