Channel Crossings Booking Time

Post by johneroberts » Sun Oct 05, 2003 10:21 am

Need to start thinging about booking some places to cross the channel for the Neck/Hock trip, please incate which is your preference.<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="http://forums.rs246.com/forums/dopoll.php"><INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="pollname" VALUE="1065345712johneroberts">
<p>Best way to cross the Channel
<input type="radio" name="option" value="1" />Sea Cat
<input type="radio" name="option" value="2" />Eurotunnel
<input type="radio" name="option" value="3" />Ferry
<INPUT TYPE=Submit NAME=Submit VALUE="Submit vote" class="buttons"></form>
Its fair to say that the tunnel will save time and also the sea cat, but can get a bit choppy that time of year, the ferry takes ages and is frustrating when you just wanna get there as fast as possible.
Im personally going to forgo the expense and go via the tunnel (just watch low slung exhausts)
Cheers

Warning: I don't think Andy will be allowed on the Eurotunnel if he has the NOS installed

Hum...

On the way back from Donington as I was getting ready for the 9pmish shuttle, I got pulled on the side by the custom/security.
"step out of the vehicle, ID please, etc."
An officer lady took a torchlight and started inspecting the car and immediatly returned in the building to come back with a senior officer.
She pointed to my driver's door without a word and the officer went in with gloves.

It turned out that I left there something quite common for french owners of high-end cars (a teargas spray) and the officer told me without the slightest joke in his voice : "are you aware this is considered to be a firearm in England ?".
(in a manner you know you're in serious trouble and I did feel like a small POS "how could you forget that, you idiot")

End of story : I was let go by putting the can in my spare wheel space under the trunk for the whole trip and a polite but firm warning "don't ever bring this again because it's in your record now".

So they do check.

Eurotunnel = no dented doors. I.e. you don't get that family pulling up alongside you on the cat/ferry. And then proceeding to open ever door with force on your pride and joy.
Zero Drama
