CAMSHAFT WORN , BUGGER

Post by ADYS4FKU » Thu May 15, 2008 9:17 pm

Hi guys. Well today been a bad day. Just thought i would fit my rocker cover gasket left bank. To my horror i found a very worn exhaust camshaft lobe and tappet worn though. In fact there was no tappet. There has been no warning signs that its gone. not even a rattle or lack of any performance. Hoping have got away with minuim damage. Has anyone come across this before ? Thanks in advance. :(

There have been a few cases . New set of cams and tappets should see it right.

81.000 miles. Only had the car 3 months so do not know what oil its had up to me buying it. Done one oil change when i got it and put castrol magntec in. Looks like right hand bank had same problem as its had a new exhaust camshaft already.

Off topic a bit, well not really. Millers is a good oil, but most dont use it over here... not that main stream
