Just got my car back.

Nice shiny wheels!

Scared to drive it now.

Look a bit small in the arches though

Not sure about the tyres though.

Avon ZZ3 225/45ZR17 91Y

Unknown quantity to me.

Had Toyos on before.

It will be nice to have new wherels, except I will have to endure the pain and upset when they first get kerbed!

Better still u could lend ur car to Mick for a few hours and he should be able to 'introduce' ur new alloys to the local kerb in no time at all !!

Consider me instead. We both live in Reading so it'll be easier to meet up and do the swap.

Did you ask them to fit Toyos? Whilst I expect that the insurance company would generally try to have the cheapest tyres fitted, you can always ask. As a minimum they ought to only fit Audi-approved tyres such as Pirelli or Michelin.

Thanks Dave,

Will consider this.

By the way I could sort out your other "problem" at the same time with a couple of the bricks that were used to prop my car up with...

Hi Dave,

They asked me what tyre I had fitted before and I told them Toyos.

Was a bit surprised to find the Avons fitted.

BUT they didn't actually tell me they would fit the Toyos.

I'm sure you're right, the cheapest they could find.

By the way people keep telling me I have a different type of wheels fitted to before... they must have been pretty dirty!

Its very nice to have my car back.

I have been driving my Golf GTI MKI Campaign. Have to say I miss the Golf's direct steering and the way you can tell exactly what the tyres are doing when you load them up. It is a bit agricultural though.

Lucky bugger, I'd love to have a MK1 again, had 3 1800's a while back as each time I sold one I had to buy another

I've owned this one since 1985.
Quite honestly it could do with some TLC, but just sailed through another MOT. Driving it over the last couple of weeks made me want so spend some time/money on it, but just in the middle of extending the house and don't have either to spare...

Nice shiny wheels now though. Not 100% sure about the brakes though, will get them checked tomorrow.

The UK is much classier than over here, they used stone for yours and only bricks for mine!
I did not have lock nuts but they are standard for BBS anyway.
Atl least they did use the jacking point and did not bend the floor on yours David, I needed a wheel alignment as they have dropped the front quite hard.

Thought I was quite lucky.....

However noticed today that one of my front disks is rusty towards the centre of the disk. Looks like only 50% of the pad is in contact with the disk and not cleaning the rust off. Also the other front caliper appears to be missing its cover. Will get it checked tomorrow. Strangely braking appears OK.

Only had the standard Audi locking nuts myself. Not sure if even these have been put back by the insurance company's repairer.

More phone calls to them tomorrow, ho hum.

David
