Interesting one - intermittant fault with the Climate Contro

Post by arS4 » Fri May 02, 2008 5:14 pm

Hello All,

Got a B5 S4 (pre-facelift)

Had this happen twice now.

The climate controls work, but the actual fan doesn't engage. I can heard "clicking" as it engages.

Any ideas? Dodgy fan?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

There is a method of displaying faults on the front of the aircon panel. Hold the recirc and up arrow or something. Will see if I can find details for you. I got a simlair issue with aircon which I need resolved.

LOL!! :D

Well, bl00dy typical. Fired the ignition up, and the damn climate control kicked in!!! :D

So, I checked a few of the obvious codes, such as 15, 16, 18, 21 (no occurrences), 32 & 33 (no occurrences)

Didn't really know what the rest was doing, so left it. Might be worth trying when the fault happens again.

Thanks for the link though!

Sounds intermittent to me ;)

I'd have thought that the first thing to look at, would be a new AC compressor - perhaps it's faulty.....

Just a guess (what I know about Audis, you can fit on a stamp!! :D)

Well, it's happened again today.

Code 18.3 (fresh air blower voltage - sporadic)
Strangely enough, after doing the test, the bl00dy blower kicked back in!! :D (in the nick of time - it was getting warm outside!)

Any suggestions?

Could be the resistor on the heater box

You should be able to access it by removing the glovebox

I cant seem to get the diagnostics to work? I held down the recirc button as per the instructions but got nothing - i have got a pre facelift if that makes any difference?

Can i check the codes via vagcom instead?

Press and hold the recirculation button. Then press the manual flow control up arrow

or check with vagcom.
