SportsTech are Rubbish

Post by WeaselRS6saloon » Thu May 08, 2008 10:06 pm

Hi Guys,

as the title suggests Sports Tech in Ilkeston are totally rubbish and I really dont want anyone else to go through the pain or hassle that I have just been through for the last few months. They call themselves Audi BMW & Mercedes specialists, I wouldnt let them work on a BMX.

Anyhow I will stick to facts and you can draw your own opinions & conclusions -

I bought an RS6 9th Feb 08 and after a few days I discovered the DRC was shot.

I contacted Sports Tech for a quote to replace with KW's.
At first they seemed very organised and proffessional, I agreed for them to order the KW kit and when the kit was delivered for them to fit it, this was on the 28th Feb08.

I waited for 5 weeks and eventually after numerous phone calls and emails to Sports Tech the kit had allegedly turned up but was a couple of small parts missing which were due in the next day.

The car was taken into Sports Tech on 3rd April 08 and was expected to be all repaired by 4/5th April. I was given a L reg 320i BMW with 171000 miles on the clock as a courtesy car, this was not the best car in the world but better than nothing and OK for what was expected to be a few days.

However the car was not fixed for the 4/5th April, as allegedly the small parts were still missing and due in anytime.

I continued to phone or email Sports Tech on a daily basis anxious for when I would get my car back, at first I was told in a few days the parts will be in soon from Germany.

This went on for two weeks, I then asked what are the small parts they were waiting for, I was told it was the front shocks as they had mistakenly been sent to someone else. This I naively accepted and continued to wait either phoning or emailing every couple of days, (they never returned my calls if the person I needed to speak to wasnt there).

After another week I asked what exactly is the situation with my car, I was told the rear shocks are all done and the new KWs are in place but still waiting for the fronts. I waited a few more days, by this time none of my calls were returned nor emails answered so at the end of the 4th week I was getting really frustrated and suspicious to what was really happening.

I no longer believed that they had any of the kit or done any work to the car at all. I finally gave up hope and called them to advise that I was going to collect the car the very next day which was now the 2nd May 08.

When I got there I find that the car has not had any work done to it at all, it was all lies, none of the kit had ever turned up and even worse someone had been using my RS6 and clocked up 146 miles while I was driving round in their shitty 15 year old BMW ! My car also had a small scuff to the rear bumper which wasnt there before !

I was completely gutted and still to this day I can not understand why they continued to lie and string me along. I have not heard from them since with any kind of explanation or appology.

So thats my rant over, use Sports Tech at your peril ! I wanted to share my experiences with others so they dont get the same treatment.

I had my car fixed yesterday while I waited - the full DRC system fully replaced with KW's from a very reputable firm near Chester that some of you may know of! and I only called them last Thursday to arrange it!

Finally the car drives as it should, no thanks to Sports Tech.

Just as a follow up. The car i bought 6 months ago had a health check from Sports tech prior to me buying it. Got the 100% all clear apparently.

1 week later i land over to buy the car and it really isnt driving right at all, it was slower than my old 1.8T. After a bit of research i found a big split in the TBB, two duff DV's and a busted F hose. Now either im the unluckiest guy ever and all these went in one week, or these guys took a £40 fee for a health check and didnt even open the sodding bonnet.

So....i called up the MD of the company a few days later and asked him to investigate. He wasnt overly helpful and seemed keen on recommending Revo software to fix the 'problems'.

My experience of Sports tech is pretty limited.....but i wouldnt let them touch my car again.

Unfortunately I've had the same problem , I've had 2 kw v3 kit's from sports tech .Both look months to arrive and with 100's of phone calls & text messages telling me they would be there the same or next day .

So as of 1st march I've got the kits direct from kw UK with no problems .

I had this with them too. Ordered KW V3's before last Christmas and they took my money there and then promising them within a few days. It was then like the Monty Python Cheese shop sketch (look it up on Youtube if you're too young to know). Every freakin' reason under the sun as to why they hadn't arrived and different one for every day. They are polite, and they sound like they know what they are doing. I had to cancel a skiing trip and wait ages to get them. I would suggest going direct or to someone with them in stock, and only pay once they have them there.

Trust me when I say this - Sports Tech are a company in total freefall from what I can see - The perils you guys have described are the tip of the iceberg. Do not, and I repeat, do not hand your car over to them if you want it back anytime soon.

No speeding or parking tickets yet, touch wood !
I guess I would have a game on trying to prove it wasnt me driving, I know the date & time I dropped it off and collected it and also the before and after mileage but thats all ! I'm not even sure who drove it round, I was told it was the co-director.

They could have put it round a track for all I know (doubtfull with dodgy DRC, but who knows).

Still trying to clean the oil off my drive that their courtesy car leaked !

All this about Sportstech sounds scarily familiar ........ I had a very similar experience with them recently with a KW kit for my RS6. I have never in all my life been so consistantly lied to like i was by Ben from sports tech. Basically i had my car booked in with Grizz to do the DRC to KW conversion and we ordered the kit from Ben. This was back in January this year. It took an unbelieveable number of phone calls, texts, emails and a dazzling array of lies and bullsh*t from Ben before i finally got the kit in April. We finally had him cornered when i actually told him i was coming down to his unit to collect the kit in person, and he said to give him an hour or so to collect the kit from the back of his wifes car. So i dutifully gave him until lunch time to get the kit back to his office. At 3.30pm i was still sat in his car park and he was apparently stuck on the motorway. We were suspicious of this as the kit was supposed to be in the back of his wifes car, so we checked in with KW and they told us that Ben had just left with 2 new KW kits - the swine had never actually had the kits !!! - I called Ben and asked him how the trip to KW had been and he still maintained the lie - after another 10 mins of further bullsh*t, he eventually admitted that he had been to KW to collect the kit - lying git. He then offered to compensate me for my time away from work - but nothing ever failed to materialise.

In all honesty guys, you should seriously think very hard before parting with any money to Sports tech and in particular Ben !!! - you have been warned ........

BY the way, Grizz did an awesome job of the install, and even replaced the secondary airflow pipes at no cost - what a legend ! - i very much recommend the work he does, top quality.

After all the work i have had done to the beast, i've now decided to sell her - shame really, cos all the dodgy bits have been replaced. I'll put an add on the classified forum

They are now under new managment and have been for over 15 months. I was speaking to the guys there and that's what they told me. They looked after my Audi S3 and M3 and I am happy with the work and service given. It looks like a lot has changed since 2008, can't fault them! I also recommended a friend with an RS6 who had a Revo installed and he is well happy with it. :D
