Thanks Marshy for the info. That's got me geared up to give elephant another call - simply out of principle!

Will get back with what they say........................
01 RS4, Milltek, Dahlback Racing rears, RS6 fronts and a few bits to be added.

Also, as I hate driving, my toy to play with - a Honda CBR F Sport

Hi,

I've just got my first S4 and Elephant were great.. I was already with them on my previous car (2sk) and transferring the policy to the S4 has saved me 200 quid.. I cant complain. Car has no mods though which probably helps, not that they asked if it had anyway.

Cheers
Herbie

Hi, I've just been through a similar thing with Elephant. I have an existing policy and called to tell them I’m looking at a remap, they said they don’t cover that. After asking them a few questions about remap and chip, I asked why they wont insure a remap and they started to explain that “non standard parts would be too hard to repair after an accidentâ€

If I was you I would call Noel Dazely insurance (as advertised on this site), they have a very sensible approach to insuring modified vehicles.

I got a quote for upgrading my brakes when I was with Elephant... they came back with a 50% price increase of 600!!!
So by making your car safer and getting it to stop quicker it costs you more on insurance..........thats <beep>. I would not bother telling them anything

Apparently buying bigger brakes means you drive more recklessly, or there were words to that effect. Had to bite my tongue!

A guy who works for me had a similar problem with a Golf GTi, as he was deciding against a remap because he spoke to one person who said "we don't cover remaps".

The only thing I could say to that was "B******s", and told him to say it was an engine chip, and point him in the direction of their online quote - next call they relieved him of some cash..
