Continental Tyres

Post by markweems » Tue Apr 29, 2008 8:39 am

Does anyone have the Continental tyres on their RS4. I currently have Pirelli on mine and wondered how the Continentals compared given there is 30% off at Kwik Fit if you buy 4 of them!

I have Sport Contact 3's on mine and they are OK, however as soon as is needed I am changing to Goodyear Assymetricals.

They are lasting OK, have done 11k miles since I got the car and it has approx 3-3.5mm left in them, but I feel they are past their best now. Wet grip isn't great and grip in general is OK but you can feel them squirm and slide under the car

I doubt getting the discount at KwikFit will be any cheaper than getting 4 275 / 30 R19 Goodyers from Micheldever anyway.

£630 from Kwik Fit ...so went for the second pair on the car.

Did want F1s but you have to choose a different size and didnt want to do that.

To note i changed the Contis as when worn the fronts became unbearable on the car to drive. Kept 2 rears as spares incase in the garage

That's the bit putting me off another set of SC3's, the fact that they give up their best well before the tread blocks.

That and I'm sure Kwik Fit's offer will have long gone by the time I come to changing tyres. Goodyears gave loads of grip all the way up to the end with little change in road noise.

BTW, how many miles did you get out of your last set of Pirelli's?

On average about 15k out of the Pirellis. Rears usually still have about 2mm on them but I always change the 4 at once.

In Australia, Continental doesn't have 275/30/19 in the Sportcontact 3 series! Neither is Michelin PS2 or Bridgestone
