All interesting comments.

Blue62, the problem I have with my car is that it is only 12 months in on the finance - the earliest I could let it go would be around September.

Although like everything, it would depend on what you are looking to pay???

Blue62, just to let you know I've gone out and measured the gap between back of seat and lip on rear bench and me being 5'9" there is 6 1/2" of space between the two with Recaro Sports seats rather than buckets.

I would also think there is more foot space under the sports seat rather than the bucket, even on its lowest setting (i.e. not jacked up)

Thanks PG, that's useful I think I may hold out for Recaro's if I can find a car. Hunty, I'm really looking for something in the next few weeks b ut if you're asking me I would suggest that I'd be happy to talk somewhere between the trade and retail price (that way we both get something).

I went for the Recaros rather than the buckets because, although the latter were really impressive, I could imagine that there would be occasions (e.g. when parked on an incline or in a car park next to another vehicle) when the buckets would be difficult to extricate myself from. Took a long time to find the optimum seat/steering wheel position with the Recaros thought - just too much adjustment!

I have only regretted not having the buckets once - ascending the A285 just near Seaford College on the way to Goodwood. Could have done with a bit more lateral support on some of those bends.

There's a lovely Daytona Avant with 25K on the clock plus Recaro sports seat on Autotrader at present for a fiver under £40K.
