TBH you'll now see at least one of those severity crashes daily. That many drivers on the track that have no idea & no respect, they often come a cropper. Last time i was there the track was closed for roughly 15-20mins every hour while they hauled someone in.
Does become very frustrating at times, but it's a public road so virtually anyone in anything can drive it.

Sure as hell slowed me down from that point onards! Weather was bad, but track empty so we made the most of it. I was in the Subaru on Dunlop Formula-R's and I would aquaplane at 55mph, so I was able to have fun at low speed. M3 was on fit Conti 2's, so no such low speed issues.... Passenger took a call as we went up Exmuhle to say what had happened but Parkie wouldn't let me back on at the Start/Finish. Had to drive to Breidscheid and wait for the ambulances to take him off to Adenau Hostpital.DavidT wrote:I remember the M3 crash Phil G, I could not believe it.
All went down hill from there really. Poor bugger was not in a good way and we loaded him in to the helicopter and he was away. 3 days of touch-and-go and glad to say he started to recover. Very lucky boy.
Has no memory whatsoever of the 10 days or so surrounding the accident. He rembers the bills as I said before - and I had managed to negotiate the armco bill down from £14,500 by taking photos and counting up the number of flattened pieces. Recovery from track and helicopter about £3800. Unreal costs. NEVER go there without full insurance!!!
Sure as hell forces you to brush up on your German too! Will ask Brother if he's happy for me to post a pic of the flattened M3, as this might help to focus the minds when you next think you might just be able to get another 5mph on the approach to Flugplatz next lap out.....

I was there too in September with my RS6 plus. Stock all around, except for front pads (Movit Pro, amazing pads but noisy)
The car was perfect. One lap of a traditional track like the GP track will strain the car a lot more the Nordschleife. You really can feel that they honed RS6 on that track, even tyres last very well. I did boil the brake fluid when stopping at the pits after a full on lap, but no problems at track & at speed.
Hi to Phil T and others, it was nice getting to know you
