Steve - how many business miles are you doing annually?
A few years ago I used to do about 30K miles a year, 23,000 of which business; has now dropped to around 13K, 7,000 business which is not good for tax rebate but its inevitably a balance of running costs/depreciation etc.
How do you go about claiming these rebates?
Either by Self-Assessment or by a form called P87D

If you do do business mileage; its well worth paying a tax accountant £100 for a session as you can save yourself a fortune.

Just FYI my wife opted out of her company car and wanted an A3 so went to the local audi dealer and all the could give her for her allowance was a bog standard 1.6 which was gutless even the vectra 1.8 she had before and a bit more go about it and it was <beep>, and broke the wifes hart as she always wanted an A3. so i loooked around and found Lloydstsb havether own car deals call car select http://www.carselect.lloydstsb.com/home.aspx sow put the numbers in ther and shock horror i could get the wife a A3 Sportsback 2.0T sport for the same money Audi wanted for the 1.6.
So printed it all off and the wife and i went back to the sales man, let the wife do al the talking and explained she could get the 2.0T sport fro the same money so he aked were gave him the details and he surryed off coiming back explaining that there is an other finace copmany they deal with which ende up being a tenner more than Lloydstsb a month for the same deal so the wife went for the dealer andd now she is the very proud owner of a black A3 sportsback 2.0T sport which she loves and is looking to get an S3 in 3 years time lucky bugger.
So what i'm trying to say is do some reserch before doing the deal and you'll end up better off than you thought
