My Timeattack

Post by rs4steve » Thu Apr 10, 2008 6:02 pm

5.30am start

freezing -2 snow everywhere so glad loaded car up night before got 2 donny 7.50am roads were a joke no gritters a42/m42 was like an ice skating rink went through 2 crashes 6 car pile up then a van on its roof covering both lanes,
unloaded car signed on ,briefing all the norm,

had walk round checked out the competition some very nice bits of kit no expense spared carbon this carbon that, plastic windows mechanics running round everywhere, and theres me bag of spanners, 1 set of spare wheels and a halfords jack

9.00am warm up session

went out on r888's mega slippy did 3 laps 6th overall out of 29 runners

11.30am 1st practise

dried up a bit now pace certainly picked up, all the fastboys are out
sector 1 -car felt good,
sector 2 -losing out topend needed my 6 speed gearbox, was flatout in 5th as entered main straight out of coppice hitting 124mph,
sector 3 - front end struggling for grip

fastest lap 122.7secs 16th overall, 19th fastest- fastest speed kev atkins 138.9mph

14.20pm qualifying for superbattle group a

still dry ,cars everywhere did a few laps get some heat in tyres then pushed on for a fast lap cars still everywhere, so for 1 lap held back 2 make a bit of room then on lap 5 went for it
sector 1 - as fast as i could go
sector 2 -flat out revs well out of powerband down dunlop straight,
sector 3-going well then <beep> boost pipe off start of main start/finish straight

back in pits for repair

as only top 15 forced induction/5 normally aspirated drivers go through then had to wait for group b qualifying to finish

my time was a 121.8secs

just made into superbattle placed 15th yes!!!!!

16.00pm superbattle

snowing,snowing,snowing

decided to put on a set of road tyres while waiting for snow to stop

16.20pm superbattle starts

sliding everywhere did my best finished 11th overall 5 points

Yeah, that would be great; turn up, set fastest time of the day, and leave. Only joking, be great to see you and your awesome car.
