Insurance premiums - upward trend?
Insurance premiums - upward trend?
Just had my renewal notice and the premium has gone up nearly 10% from last year for no change in circumstances. Is this generally the case this year or is it still worth shopping around?

RE: Insurance premiums - upward trend?
My renewal is the same price as last years give or take a quid. Which is not bad considering I have made 2 modification declarations between then too.
I cannot argue with the price at all.

RE: Insurance premiums - upward trend?
The new ABI codes (ie: Insurance Groups that now go up to 50) are currently being implemented at my place. A lot of insurers will use this as an excuse to ramp up the premium on these cars.
I work on behalf of one of the major players and we won't have the new codes applied until July, but other insurers may have put their rate changes into effect already.
I'd say it's a sign of things to come i'm afraid, but you're at an ideal time to shop around incase you find an insurer who hasn't yet followed suit.

My insurance has gone down by around 15%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have still to get a quote for the 700 hp, but I have great faith in them not skinning me for it, last year when I upgraded from 460 to 550 they came back and said "If you can handle 460, we are sure you can handle 550" and did not change the premium!!!!! If Carlsberg made insurance companies ??? btw, its Greenlight, who I believe are sponsors here ...

Not at the moment they're not Rich, but we would love to have them back
I just renewed with Greenlight and it came down £ 20 for the same cover.

Simon... you make me sick :p lol!!!
I've just insured mine (albeit not a renewal) and if you add a 0 to your premium, you're still not there

ah fair play, suppose there's no commuting etc and it's just a play thing for good weather and weekends so maybe I'll let you off

Re: RE: Insurance premiums - upward trend?
I heard through a friend that they don't allow you drive another car 3rd party, maybe worth checking your policy ... my mate who was at the local court house saw loads of folk up for driving without insurance because they thought (as most policies do) they could drive any other car 3rd party!SimonS4MTM wrote:Just renewed mine with Elephant for £309

I have found, in the case of Admiral at least, the prices for renewal can often be more the the prices quoted online for new customers.
The renewal for two cars on a multicar policy last year came down by £150/10%, after I did an online quote with the same details and queried the difference.

Most policies don't provide 3rd party cover for other cars nowadays. I've just renewed via Greenlight and also transferred my Golf to them and they sliced nearly £200 off the overall price.
If you are with Admiral/Elephant (I had my S4 and RS4 with Elephant for years) it is always worth getting a new quote as it is always cheaper than their renewal quote - then phone them up and get them to match it...they will.
