Anyone having the same problem here on board?

Post by RSTaSIS4 » Wed Apr 09, 2008 4:56 pm

My air-con outlet is bowing out some "foam" like little piece everyday. It makes the interior so dirty. Anyone have the same problem and i am wondering if it can be fixed.

Thanks..

Is someone playing a joke on you? It's been known for people at work (well, my work, anyway!) to fill up the fan outlets on the odd pool vehicle with either talcum powder or some other substance so as soon as some unsuspecting person turns the fan on.... 'poof!' they get covered!

Quite funny, really!

Sorry if that doesn't help at all though.......

More likely to be a non OEM ollen filter disintergrating or you have a load of old leaves and other debris surrounding your scuttle.
I would recommend you remove the covers on the passenger side and see what the state of your pollen filter is (sits on top of the access to the air box and fan) - They are only about £12 and really should be changed every year. When you've got it filter out, to make sure all the debris at the bottom of the filter box is cleared out use a high powered vac to suck or an air line to blow everything through - be prepared for a good clean and dust!

Re-air-con

Hi,
the most likely cause if your pollen filter is ok and it is definately sponge/foam bits that are flying out is the heat/directional flaps in your airbox, these have sponge around the edges to stop air going through when you set it on different directions ie windscreen/feet/on your face, the only way to repair is remove your heater box and fit new flaps or live with it , eventually all the foam/sponge will come out, hope this helps.
