Re: REVO
I think the tuners cost the remaps relative to the value of the vehicle!! See:
AmD
MTM
Don't think the year is an issue, probably a typo.. Give them a call.

Re: REVO
I've spoken to Revo, Kevin I think, and gather that you and some buddies were at Donnington last weekend running this software. I'd appreciate both your and any other users views on this route. Have any downsides croppped up - I'm aware of the bespoke/generic discussion there have been in the past.

Re: REVO
Basically here's how I see it:
QSTuning - The OE chip is removed and replced with a new MTM chip. MTM is a well known and respected brand.
AmD - Rolling road session before and after rechip, which is useful if something is wrong with the car (i.e. MAF, etc...). The OE chip is removed and replced with a new chip.
Revo - Remap is performed without making any physical changes to the car, and is therefore more easily reversible. The guy who wrote the code has an RS4, and is continually developing it. If there is a problem, a laptop can be plugged in, and this will usually identify the issue(s).
I had an AmD chip in my S2 and then had one in my RS4. Revo asked me to help them develop the RS4 code, so I decided to change the AmD chip for an OE chip, and try the Revo code.
I have been very impressed with the work that Revo have carried out.

Re: REVO
This has also been reported on some Seat Cupra R`s and maybe some S3/TT`s.What about the dead spot at 5k rpm?
Its more like a hesistation, a momentry flat spot then the power comes in again.
It could be a hardware problem. collapsing hose, fault MAF or DV, there are so many variables to look for but the best thing is that a laptop can be plugged in and diagnose the problem and then a new code can be developed.

Re: REVO
i wouldnt say that the flat spot is associated with a collapsing hose, i should know mine had it.
Feels like all the power has stopped at 5k and the car wont rev past that point unless u back off and try again.
However i did get my hose replaced under warranty and its been fine since.
Aprt from that im very happy with my revo in mine. as well as the the service from the guys at HQ

Re: REVO
What about the dead spot at 5k rpm?
The flat spot on mine was down to the exhaust not allowing the engine to breath properly, this was quickly rectified by using the SPS3 and setting a new 'Low Boost' value. (Don't forget I'm not running the GA RS4 code).

Re: REVO
What about the dead spot at 5k rpm?
Hand grenade launch, now running for cover
Bushy
Interesting, I called Kev two days ago on that issue.
My own experience : all the way down from Donington (600km + Eurotunnel), brilliant driving and never had a prob of dead spot at 5krpm.
Then on Wednesday, when flatting it in 2nd and 3rd gear (couldn't do more in Paris area), I had this exact drop of acceleration around 5k rpm. Then boost kicks back. It's very real and discomforting.
My first thought was the DV was dead or a MAF issue but I've also been playing a bit with the SPS-3 before that started.
So I'll try PhilT recommendation while waiting for Kev's response.
Just one question for Bushy, why do you say "Hand grenade launch, now running for cover" ? It's a bit disturbing to read for a new user of Revo.

Re: REVO
Nothing against Revo, just knew it would upset Phil and get him ranting, more of a wind up than anything
Didnt mean to upset you mate
I personally cannot comment on Revo software as I have never tried it.
I personally went for a custom remap on the rolling road with which I am very happy.
Good luck

Re: REVO
Hi guys,
Being a tuner myself, I've always been wondered by the fact that the Revo can work on basically whichever car that has the same ECU family as the one you've put it on formerly.
Meaning, for instance, that Eric with his RS4 could lend it to a friend of mine (or of his, this is irrelevant here) with an S3 and it would still work???
This is something I don't think is really possible ***in terms of eprom reprogramming***, the Revo can't contain all chip data from all ECUs, find out by itself to which ECU it is connected and do the reprogramming "like that", just by being plugged into the OBD2 plug....
The reason I'm saying this is because each type of engine has its own particular ECU but also its particular programming, the maps aren't located at the same addresses in the chips and the chips themselves aren't even the same size in an RS4 and in an S3.
So now, how does it work? Could it be loaded with a few megs of stock ECU data (or say just a list with the software number) but also with modified chip contents for all ECUs and software versions out there (about 20 of them if we count S3s, S4s, RS4s, and a lot more if we include "basic 1.8T" engines equipped the with Bosch Motronic ME7 ECU)? I can't believe that one could have found a trick that allows "generic" reflashing of the internal flash eprom, regardless of the original software version, map location, map contents and so on, it's simply unbelievable.
One question I have though is: has any Revo user already unplugged his car's battery for a short while then plugged it back? If so what happened? Was the Revo still active or did you have to re-activate it again by plugging it back in?
Thanks for reading my long message and thanks for the answers,
Mihnea
