I hope this keeps going (as in, I hope more people vote, not that I hope more peeps have DRC issues). Somebody on here suggested taking up this issue formally with Audi - at what point do you have enough cars with problems to potentially prompt a recall. What's the official line, grey or otherwise?

Or, thinking about it, how about the press?

Asked the dealer to check mine while the car was in for an overfuelling problem, as I could hear a slight knock on the offside front when the wheel dropped in a hole. They told me today that the front shocks have a slight oil weep at the top and need replacement. The parts won't be in for a week. The car has done 14.5k and so far it's had a new clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, spark plugs and front pads from 12.5k to now - happy days!

15K and going in next week for all four corners (plus DRC valve) to be replaced. Only offside really evident from knocking but stealer says both fronts have gone and need to replace opposite corners - which I'm obviously happy with. (Not quite so happy with the dent car picked up when it went in for checking! )

Stealer told me getting parts was easy but couldn't do work for a couple of weeks because it will take virtually a whole day so needed a day when they could fit it in and provide loaner etc....

Now have to wait and see what sort of job they make of the work.

is there anyway you/we could log which shocks replaced, mileage, saloon/avant and age to see if theres some kind of trend, maybe they've fixed it in later cars. (he says crossing fingers while looking for a 57 plate car!)

Okay its quite clear that the stats are unsatisfactory. The question is how will it all effect us? Problems out of warranty and potential problems come resale out of warranty are the most important aspects. How can we resolve these issues? Are the shocks that have been replaced updates? Will they fail again?
I would suggest that we leave this thread open for another week or so then everyone that has contributed to the poll and thread print it off, send it to their dealer and Audi UK with a covering letter asking for answers to the above questions with an additional request (if the shocks are not updates) asking for extended warranty coverage on the shocks/drc system.
I think it would also be a good idea that those who have not had the problem take a quick look at their shocks to see if there is any evidence of leaking.
If we all do this then maybe we can protect ourselves come the end of the warranty period and offer some reassurance to future owners of our cars.
:D

I think that's a good idea. I'd leave it a bit longer; possibly ask the mods if it can be made a sticky. I could be wrong, but I believe an identical letter sent by everybody, or one letter undersigned by everybody and sent to Audi UK (CCd to all dealers and possibly CCd to select press) would be the best way to do it.

I'm sure that between us we know somebody who could advise on the correct course of action. Ideas?

I was thinking about getting an RS4 but this has put me off just as I was put off getting an RS6 in 06/07. Judging by retail prices, this is not affecting RS4 values yet like it hit RS6 ones.
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.
