I have an N95 although the original model, not the slightly newer 8gb, but i was told these symbian handsets just won't sync (phonebooks) with the Audi Bluetooth. Can you confirm what this 810 software is & if this can functionality is only possible on the 8gb version. Not sure what version of Bluetooth module i have, but it was installed last Summer & supplied by craigyb.
If you go here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4143881 and choose which operating system your phone uses - for the N95 8GB it is the S60 3rd addition. Download the appropriate "SIS" programme.

Install it on your phone.

Pair the N95 with the Audi bluetooth module and then the Nokia 810 software should start automatically and transfer your contacts to the car. It may take a minute to auto start. If it does not auto start then you can run it yourself.

Mine works perfectly.
Bail out, bail out, bail out.
Do I have to wait for you to say it three times.......

Cheers, i'll try that over the weekend.

Just to clarify though, my phone pairs up fine & is almost fully functional through the BT module (makes & receives calls fine), but the phonebook won't sync (was told this was a known issue). I also every say 1 call out of 4 get a nasty feedback noise until a call is fully connected (i.e. when it's dialling).

As said, will try the update though.

Tried last night, downloaded the S60 3rd Edition, as that's the one stated for the N95, i then installed onto my handset with no problems, but i'm getting no activity other than the handset saying processing for over an hour.

Saw 2 settings for the program which i think were autosync either enabled or disabled & i tried both of these but no joy. The only thing i noted from your instructions was about pairing as my handset & bluetooth are already paired as i use all the time. Are you saying to delete the current pairing & then re-pair handset & bluetooth once this download contacts app is installed??

Then is it best set to Auto as once you start the app it just says processing, so not straight forward how to change the settings.

The only thing I can think of is for you try and doing everything from scratch.

1) Reset the Audi bluetooth to default settings.
2) Delete the pairing on your N95.
3) Search for new bluetooth device from the phone.
4) When it finds the Audi module enter the passcode "1234"
5) You should hear a beep as the phone connects.
6) After no more than 30 seconds the phone should show "transferring" as it transfers the phone book across. This can take 1-2 minutes and uses the Nokia 810 software automatically.
7) "Processing" should then show on the phone for about 5 seconds.
8 Give the RNS-E about 20 seconds and then you should hopefully be able to see your phone book.

If this doesn't work then the only thing that I can think of is that you unfortunately don't have the latest "Q" bluetooth module fitted to the car.

Good luck.

Does anyone know if the latest "Q" module transfers the phonebook off a Samsung G600 onto the RNS-E?

Followed your instruction to the letter but no joy. Oddity was after seeing nothing happen for a while, i launched the application on the handset & it said "make sure the mobile phone is not connected to the car" what the hell can that mean? It's hardly going to work if they are not connected. To be sure i deleted the app & re-installed & the same thing happened again.

So unless i'm being really dim (could be the case) i guess i must have the wrong version of BT module.

So 3 more questions, firstly how can i tell what version i've got, second what version should i have & thirdly how do i get mine updated?

My car is a May 2007 & had the BT module supplied by craigyb around Jube/July 2007, so i assume it was the current version then.

Cheers in advance.

There are a couple of more things you can try.

1) Run the 810 program on the phone and whilst it is running pair the phone to the car.

OR

2) I agree with you, it sounds non-sensical, but I did read that some people have had success with transfering their contacts when the N95 and Audi module have not been paired. They have set everything to default on the car bluetooth module and then ran the 810 software on the phone. It's worth a try anyway.

I would think that you do have the latest "Q" module but I'm afraid I have no way of telling for definite. I'd just e-mail Craig - he'll tell you straight away.

If you've got VAG-COM then you'll be able to tell what version you have through that (address 77 IIRC)

Also don't want to sound stupid, but I've had the problem of pairing the phone. Basically from my understanding and what i've read, the BT module is only awake for the first few seconds, and if it doesn't detect a phone, goes to sleep

So delete all the pairings, and have the BT on, on your phone, and have it ready on the menu for the searching, and then turn on the RNS-E, and quickly search for the BT. This did the trick for me!

The Audi BT module is awake for about 5 minutes, if it doesn't pair with a phone during that time it powers off until the ignition is turned off and back on.

If it does pair with a phone then it stays awake and can re-pair if the phone turns off and back on (from e.g. a flat battery).

Still no joy. Tried both & no joy.

Craig always told me that the N95 can't sync it's phonebook although general call functionality is fine. Perhaps the 8gb N95 has some extra feature that allows this functionality with the 810 application.

Does/did the application say processing for quite some time whilst it was downloading? What were the timings for the processes?? I'm sure nothing is happening as i keep the Phone screen showing so i can see if Phone Book suddenly lights up, but nothing.

It does.

To work properly with the Audi BT you need the N95 8GB and not the N95.

You still need the 810 download manager software from the Nokia website.

After a quick chat with Craig last night (cheers), it turns out the BT Module in my car is not the newer Q module, as Audi only launched that in Jan 2008. No amount of fiddling or a newer 8gb N95 will fix this, so i'll just stick with what i've got. Hey ho, at least i can make & answer calls though.

I have a N95 8Gb phone and I'm having the same problems as Paul....downloaded the N810 software onto my phone and it'll launch but no data transfer is evident....

I'll try some of the more esoteric suggestions before I give up, unless anyone can tell me whether its not worth the bother...

The car is an early 2007 one...and the phone is brand new.

That said, I've had no end of bother with the bloody phone...recently in Australia for three weeks and I couldn't send a text message from abroard. My wifes new Samsung had no issues. Eventually, after scrtaching my head a while, getting f**k all help from Orange CS ("Its a system issue Sir!"), I swapped my sim into her phone, tried sending a text message, and no issues.

So without doing anything else, I then put my sim card back into my phone, and it worked!

Figure that out....

Orange couldn't. They didn't believe me.

One of the reasons I stuck with my old 6600 so long....
