My DIS and the actual mpg differ somewhat....comes of having two fuel pumps and 600cc injectors.

on a motorway trip i can nearly get to 350-380 when i fill it up to the plug hole when sat at 70mph
saying that you dont say HOW you drive to get 180-270 miles per tank!!
no Einstein to work out foot to the floorboards for you guyds then!!
You're saying you get 350-380 miles from ONE full tank on a motorway run - presumably the whole tank a motorway run too????

My RS would NEVER do that; my driving style too is that of normal everyday driving, only driving it hard every so often, perhaps for people who are sitting on my arse thinking they're the STIG in their car

FYI - I had an '03 Mondeo 1.8i, and normal everyday driving it would do what you're saying you get from yours!?

I've seen over 300 miles to a tank on a good quite run with a few short blasts! :)

Had 30mpg's showing on my dis when i turned up at mrc after 250miles of driving! :sleeping_2:

I did set off the night before and cruised to oxford first to visit relatives, after i'd left MRC it was below 23 mpg 's ! :redrs4:

Went from Tunbridge Wells to Bristol and back on a tank. Nearly all motorway and mostly cruising at 80 but still had the odd squirt. Trip computer said 28.5 mpg.

I meant on a motorway run with 99 or 97 octane with a rear wind and a bit of a clear run.
Normally nearer 300 otherwise.

using boost is just too tempting but making the fuel last as long as possible I have to rein in my wellies!!

Check your MAF, that's not normal if you drive semi sensible. On the roads I mainly use there's lots of overtaking and having some fun flooring it in the process, so whilst I don't drive like a loon either, I still give the car plenty quite a bit and like most on here I never seem to get less than about 240 miles to a tank with 280-300 easily achieved (sitting about 70-80) on more relaxed longer journeys.

My S2 was only getting about 180 to a tank and it turned out to be the MAF.

Only a suggestion!

I get 24mpg average on DIS, best for a long journey was 28 on DIS. When my buggered DV was replaced it went up 1mpg, when the MAF was changed I saw a slight improvement. I have noticed a marginal drop (5%) on both of my cars following a change of tyres to Goodyear GSD's.

Apparently you can re-calibrate the DIS. Basically you monitor fuel economy (fill to brim, zero the trip and reset DIS, drive as normal then when you refuel note the readout on the fuel pump, the distance on the trip and the DIS mpg - work out actual versus DIS mpg) then calculate the correction factor and program it in... http://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/1009862.phtml or http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=38658

When you fill with fuel, the DIS gives you a huge morale boost by telling you the range is 300-odd miles. I have found this to be misleading.

I once got 397miles before i had to pull over to fill from my jug. Mine is lighter S4 but at the time it had about 450hp still with K04 turbos. Car was fully packed on a holiday trip with 2 adults and 2 kids and 235 wide tyres. I should try the same this summer with my hybrids and 225 wide tyres.
