MRC'd...well a little bit.

Post by HennessyXO » Thu Mar 13, 2008 8:34 pm

I had read a few posts recently about not being able to get through to MRC, so I was a little apprehensive when I called on Wednesday morning - I happened to be in the area - it was answered on the second ring and Doug told me to call in that afternoon, delighted.

I wanted a health check, despite having been told by two "mechanics" previously that the car was in great shape - one a "specialist tuner" who has since shutdown. Within minutes Doug had found that the DV's were in upside down, the "specialist tuner" had told he had found them "the wrong way round", one faulty DV, a split F-hose and another split hose. MRC fitted 710N's and a new EGT, took it for a test drive - which was excellent - and it felt like a new car. This is my first S4 and it had felt fast before but now it's a completely different beast.

While I was there Peakz took me for a spin in his, and that was mind blowing - made mine seem like a boaty old wreck. I'll definitely be saving for the H&R ARBs, coilovers and the big brakes.

Just got to get that rear bearing sorted first then I can take the ear plugs out.

Cheers Doug!

Another S4 with DVs faulty makes you wonder how many s4 are going around with boost leaks and other faults without knowing

Thanks again for the spin Peakz, spooky number of posts there.

Will have both rear bearings sorted Saturday morning.

Did I say how much I liked those Superleggeras?

Yeah, top marks to MRC, nice to see someone who obviously knows what they're doing working on your car.

So once I've sorted the fundamentals it'll be back to Banbury for the real MRC treatment, wouldn't even consider going anywhere else, even though it's a 288 mile round trip; the 144 miles back home will be great.

Money well spent, always amazes that Audi don;t seem to check MAF and things when it goes in for a service

Stealer service history is not worth anything IMHO.

As long as the car has been looked after a reputable specialist, that is!

I've maintaining my Audi service history so far but I did the maths on the the other day. If I drop the Audi service history, then it'll lose about 200 quid when I come to sell it. For 200 quid, I can get just shy of 4 hours work at MRC. Now, the only problem I have is justifying having MRC do these trivial tasks when I know they already have a lot of bookings for real work.
