Spare Wheel Parts & Instructions
Spare Wheel Parts & Instructions
I was out last night and passed two folks on the hard shoulder changing wheels, and then when I came off the motorway slip road there had been a recent accident with a liberal scattering of glass on the road. And all this reminded me how ever so slightly uncomfortable I am with the not having a spare wheel, not even a space saver!
So does anyone have experience, good or bad, of using the repair kit supplied, that can be shared with the forum?
And does anyone have a copy of the parts list, instructions and disclaimer (that I saw on RS4.org but did not save) that could be posted to this site?
Or even any other effective solutions?
Many thanks, ... Paul.

If it helps, I followed the instructions on Dave's RS4.org site when it was going and have twice now been fortunate I did. It is a great solution, fits and works well...I'm sure the info will be with you soon. Highly recommended.

Brilliant Phil,
Hasn't someneone also come up with a way to fit full sized wheel and not the Winter Wheel. I seem to remember this from a post on RS4.org ?

It involves cutting the platic that has the chrome insert that covers the boot latch/boot entrance. If I find it I'll add it on.

Re: Spare Wheel Parts & Instructions
I have used that gunk stuff supplied to repair a puncture, and can report that it works... Well on a quad bike anyway. You have to keep your speed below 50mph or centrifugal forces make it squirt back out of the hole and the tyre deflates again. Reminds me. Must order another bottle and tube! Re: Spare Wheel Parts & Instructions
Take the plunge and fit the full size spare. The piece of plastic Phil refers to is of no use if you have a full sized spare since the boot cover rests on the spare. (you lose no boot space at all).
The only reason not to fit the spare is if you want the long range fuel tank (another 55 litres from memory) unless, of course you have something else you'd like in your boot Phil

Re: Spare Wheel Parts & Instructions
I have a full size spare (never had to use it though). Only thing you have to do is to remove a piece of black plastic which runs along the width of the boot at the rear and across the wheelwell preventing the wheel from fitting into the well. The wheel does sit slighty proud of the wheelwell but I have two bits a foam either side of the boot supporting the boot board. Better than the old bottle of glue.
Standard RS4 (is it the only standard one left?)
