I didn't know that. I did, however, see someone lose a grands worth of wheel at one corner when he took to the rumble strip at a track and the hub became flying shrapnel. I was told at the time that it was because it was magnesium, and that had a tendency to shatter.satanschild wrote: Duh... why do they run magnesium wheels on rally cars
Mmmmm maybe as there twice as strong.........
See, this is why I ask questions, instead of making statements.
They do look good, and if we can get them for £800 as suggested, could be a great wheel. Do we have any specs on the weight?redrod wrote:

18/8J = 8.4kg
Very good!
with 2x rotational weight saved, it can shave off a lot. Also Toyo are about the lightest tyres.. T1-R and that can make loads of difference. the 4`s are good.... http://www.toyo.co.uk/productdetail.php ... duct_id=62
Rochford tyres have some good spices for Toyo.

I though that (road) salt very severely corrodes magnesium? Not an issue for rally cars....
I love those BBS, reckon they look superb especially the contrast between rims and spokes.

Satan I pm'd you but you never came back??
Too late now as I have committed to another set of CH's in 18/8.5J/et35 - 11kg without a tyre on. I will weight them with a brand new set of Eagle F1's on before fitting.

RE: Re: RE: Superleggera
I have a theory why my tyres went bald just like those above. I'm not very low because the winters here can be tough.
When I hammer it out of the corners in 2nd gear I get mad wheelspin possibly only inner side but a lot of times with both tyres. As there still is a lot of acceleration the rear drops and the camber goes really negative so it spins the inside of the tyre and the result is blown tyre like in my case after some hammering. I saw them go bald and out of balance so I punished them for going so soon : ). Ended up being flat tyred at the office garage at the morning!
I like 18*8 superleggeras and so I run two sets of them. One with dunlop SSR (also bald inner side) and other was with F1 (flat)

RE: Re: RE: Mmmm
Well I have put the CH's on hold again and am looking round.
The CH's are so good on the car, but I think I really should go wtih something lighter. I am not sure the Ultrallegaras will look good (Anyone able to photoshop?
) - otherwise I dont really know of any other light wheels to go with.
Any more suggestions? Want wheels 9kg or lighter...
