Any new S4 owners here?

Post by Gareth » Sun Sep 14, 2003 10:52 pm

Seems a bit quiet here and wondered if any forum members have got their S4's yet and what the ownership experience is like?

cheers,
Gareth

Can't or don't want to afford a new one, so I'm waiting for prices to drop on used. If they come down to around £35k for a fully-loaded S4 by Xmas, I'll probably buy one then. If not, it's another TDi for me

Yeah, I know I could have Howard's RS4, but I'm worried about keeping a car 'til it's 7/8 years old, and what that'll cost me.

For £35k you could easily get a reasonable spec new S4. The first demo cars are for sale now at around £36/37k so with a cash deal push £35k is easy.

what you waiting for?

ooohh you lucky b_gger !

Maybe you can talk him into getting TopGear to do an RS4/S4
or old/new S4 comparison
It would be good to see what their times are around the track compared to the others.

Apparently this coming series they will be running a section on 'future classics', so I would have thought the RS2, RS4, etc should fit in that bracket.

on a slightly different note, while thumbing through some car mags in the post office yesterday I noticed a Ford RS200 changed hands recently for close on £100k. Okay so it had history, but it struck me that maybe classic car prices are on the way up again...

Cheers,
John.

Well if they put it up for a reasonable price instead of £40k like the others with Sat Nav, then I might get interested. However, I think it'll be more like Christmas before there are any cars around with the spec I want for the price I want to pay.

Wakefield Audi are advertising one for £45k used. Doesn't even appear to have SatNav or much else in the way of goodies apart from leather

Didn't know that.

I do know its been driven hard though
One of their salesmen is a pretty good driver and doesn't take any prisoners, going for overtakes where I probably wouldn't have...

It was also a bit too stealthy for me (black).

Agree with you John about the black..looks a little too tame for the avant IMO

I like Red and Nogaro for the S4

I nearly brought a grey S4 with grey insides .. My previous car was a blue Impreza STI with Gold wheels and a big "Tea Tray" on the back .. Too Boy Racer

Looked at Dolphin Grey trying to move in the other direction .. Luckily the leadtime was too great and settled for Nogaro Blue with Blue seats etc ... Much better ... I would have disapeared

I too bought a Nogaro blue S4 saloon in June. I have to confess my wife chose the colour. I had initially been looking at spending a lot less on a car and it seemed the easiest way to keep her on side.
