CUSTOM INTAKE MANIFOLD- 1 of a kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by ZKNY » Thu Feb 21, 2008 7:08 pm

hey guys,

i came across this. its an intake manifold for our car. it looks stock, but is far from it. it is lightly ported, and has a much larger plenum. this will give the car way more air upstairs, where it is normally choked off.

take a look, i have a one-off model myself. you cannot find this anywhere. get it here first. if anyone has any questions, pls email or PM me.

I've been thinking about removing my aux pump. I've seen it mentioned a few times on Audiworld.

Does the extra plenum volume give any noticeable advantage?

I am working a carbon reinforced with kevlar custom intake manifold for MRC. Similiar to the std design but much wider ports and more direct intake + about an 1/8 of the weight....

I've been thinking about jumping off a bridge recently. I've seen a lot of people who own parachutes doing it, and they seem to have fun.

Is there a summary for the supposed benefits and losses in doing this, to save me having to search audiworld?

I am also interested to know what advantage expanding the plenum gives.... I personally dont see theoretically that it is any advantage. In fact its a disadvantage as if more volume to compress.... Unless the std plenum is too small (which it might be) Plenums are supposed to be the same volume as the displacement of the engine....

well you'd proberbly get an adrenalin rush..(benefit) then if ya parachute dont open <beep> yourself (losses)
hope that helps..

yea, i removed mine. you just have to let the car sit a little longer if you run the car hard.
Does the extra plenum volume give any noticeable advantage?
what do you think? =)

ding-ding-ding! somebody is on the right track!!! the stock plenum is too small. another reason why KO4's die off upstairs. with a larger plenum you have air all the way past the redline.

there may be a slight lag (200-500) rpms (depending on tune!!!), but once you get going, the tach will bounce off the redline. sooo much more air you wouldnt believe.

i know the gent who custom fabs em.

yep.... having a look at the plenum yesterday there is no way that is 2.7 litres of volume.... lucky if its 1.5 litres!
A sacrifice of cramming too much in there I guess!

Surely a smaller plenum equates to much more responsive boost as less area to pressurize?

Is it simply a trade off of responsiveness against high boost levels?
