New Jag XF SV8?

Post by GardinerG » Sun Feb 17, 2008 1:23 am

What do you guys and gals think of the new Jag XF SV8?

4.2Supercharged V8 (4.9 0-60mph, 5.1 0-62mph), all the toys, and some good reviews. Yes I know it's only 416Bhp...

Like the interior & the rear/side views, don't like the nose at all. Certainly sounds like a great car which will be more successful than the S-Type, hopefully. Certinaly I'd look at it instead of a 5-series/A6/E-class if I was in that market.

Same as above. The front is not good at all but the rest of the car is beautiful.
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

It's actually a Jag I like the look of. Agree about the front. It looks like something Lexus would dream up.

It would be nice if Jaguar would make a sports kit for the XF: some sports seats, sports suspension, black headliner etc.

love the looks all round, could even be mistaken for a AM..?

Interior no like, I don't the flat dash style the manufacturers are going for. The dash should be driver centric.

Yep, that's one of the reasons why I like the old Supra, the way the dash wraps round.

Why would you need AWD in a modern car that is not destined to go off road? Even here in the mountains of Switzerland not everybody drives an AWD, people just put winter tires.

Have you ever driven any remotely powerful RWD car in the wet? You end up going nowhere fast, well maybe backwards into a tree! I like the security that 4WD offers and so does my missus and young family.

Also, they are talking about releasing a more powerful version with SC

Is an E46 M3 a powerfull RWD car? A 130i? I drove one in almost 2 inches of snow and the only car I ever got stuck in was in an AWD XType. Drove the new M3 in greasy conditions and was perfectly fine. If you can't manage a car with DSC in the rain... maybe you shouldn't drive a car in the first place.
