When a remap is done via the OBD port a "Signature" is left behind, resetting the counter does not take this out from talking to tuners.
All the Cars I have had done, used the Imbedded method and never been seen.
Flashing is both cheap and skilless, anyone can do it with limited knowledge.
That's why all these companies have "Sprung up" from no where.
It is common knowledge that the "Flash" method is "Less Safe".
If you are concerned ask another big tuning house what they think.
which uk tuners us the imbedded method?
thanks

All they analyse is the ECU type, and then upload a suitable map via the OBD. Whereas custom maping can be suited to the exact version.
That is NOT true.

When i had mine done JD Engineering knew it had the old software and uploaded the newest version before he carried out the remap.

Yep but JD's map might be based/suited to the latest B7 software thus why he uploaded the latest software before proceeding with the mapping...

Indeed it is, but he knew i had the old version when he hooked the ecu's up to his laptop.

Also anyone can read what version they have just from Vag-Com, its not rocket science.

1) Did you APS-mapped guys get your top speed limiter removed?

2) Will they increase the rpm red line limit if you so wished?

3) I understand that in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, prior to ~5500rpm, putting your foot flat down on the throttle does still not demand 100% throttle (hence the additional rush in the stock car that seems to happen at that point). Does the map remove this restriction?

Thanks.
1 yes
2 don't know did not ask
3 not sure but think so as it smoothes out that step at 5k and revs more willingly
