Wheels which do fit ECS Stage 4?

Post by bobbler » Sat Feb 02, 2008 8:38 pm

Well, much to my surpise I have found that my 18's are still not big enough to take the ECS brakes I have had waiting to fit. Thought I would give them a try out today while taking out my ABS controller (its dead, sending it off to BB-Reman) as the wheel was off anyway.

Doesn't look like they are going to fit, pretty certain that when mounted the calipers are going to be just about touching the inside of the wheel, definately be bashing the balance weights thats for sure.

Its not all bad though, I was looking at spending out on some decent rubber next week so that will have to wait and be replaced with some no-name brand which comes with a new set of replicas.

I was always of the impression that they would fit beneath any wheel at least 18" in size.
Those of you with ECS or the RS4/6 brembos, what wheels you running?

rs4/6 do not fit under every 18" but there is a bit of room for some machining to get them to fit - either on the bracket or even the caliper!

I got rs6+ front set up .... brackets from doug for the calipers ...
The brackets were machined down by 3mm to fit the inside of my rs6 rep. wheels as they were catching on the inside of the wheel....
8.5x18; et35... also slapped some 3mm spacers on the fronts to clear spokes inside .....
happy dayz .... party ....

rs6 wheels are problematic - so are the thin bbs wheels, the 18" gallardos and some 18" RS4 B7 Reps

Those are nice Woody, any ideas where I can find them? And are they 18's?
The only other wheels I really like are the B7's and would rather not buy a set only to find they wont fit either.

Cheers S4, unfortunately I have to pay on my credit card or from our savings account rather than Paypal

Actually on the thought of spacers, as its but a few mm out they may do the job of moving the wheels enough to make the brakes fit. Will have to investigate

Spacers will make pretty much anything fit  I had 5mm spacers on RS4 B7 reps and now again on my OZ superleggeras, both 18" over RS4 B7 brakes.

It's not just the spokes of the wheel that have to clear the calipers ... it's the inside circumference of the rim that has to as well (as I found out with my new wheels!)
