Kudos to Disklok

Post by Blue_Thunder » Sat Feb 02, 2008 9:14 pm

Yes, i'm an idiot!

Picked up the car today after a lengthy period on public transport. I'd given MRC my spare set of keys, as there was a chance I was picking it up out of hours so kept hold of my 'proper' set.

I only had a key for my Disklok on my 'proper' set of keys. Drove back from Banbury and nipped in to my local supermarket on my way home, fitting the Disklok as I always do.

It was only after filling up the boot with beer and other delights that I realised I couldn't get the Disklok off.

After a taxi ride home and no sign of the keys anywhere, I gave up and called a locksmith.

To cut a long story short, it took a professional locksmith over 20 minutes with an angle grinder, a lot of noise and a lot of sparks to get it off the wheel. No chance of anyone getting one off without getting any attention. I'd highly recommend one to anyone who wants an extra deterent to would be thieves.

I will definitely be buying another tomorrow!

A thief would cut the wheel I beleive, not the lock.

Or is disclock the one that covers the whole wheel?

The Disklok is the one that covers the whole wheel.

Imaging the firework show you could have put on for the same money as a disklok and a lock smith. Gutted - could only happen to u. :-)

how is the interior after the attack from the locksmith, any damage (apart from the disklok)?

I feel a trip to costco for replacement soon.

I placed one of the floormats over the centre console (rubber side up), so no burns. Result!
