M25 CAMERAS !!!!

Post by hbk » Mon Jan 28, 2008 7:33 pm

I have had this email go around work today:

Subject: M25 JCT 10-15 Digital Speed Cameras Going Live 15th Feb 08
Importance: High

All

I have just been informed by my dad who works for the Metropolitan Police Service (for those of you who didn’t know) that as and from the 15th February 08 all the Speed Cameras in the Variable Speed Limit section of the M25 near Heathrow Airport (JCT 10-15) are going Digital and the activation limit is being lowered.

They are currently the older film type cameras and Set at 90mph when the Variable Limit Signs are not in operation.

The new digital cameras are going to be set at the normal 10% 0f the speed limit + 2mph (80mph + and your taking a risk basically) when the signs are not in use i.e. national speed limit. I can’t confirm the activation limit when the signs are set (variable limits showing) but belief it would be the same 10% + 2mph of the speed shown by the sign at that time.

Please pass this on to anyone you know.

I hope this saves a few of you getting points on your licence!!!

Regards,

As far as i can tell, they only have cameras from J10 (A3) to J12 (M3). From J12 (M3) onwards, they don't appear to have fitted any cameras yet.... just got the little lines on the roads.

Apart from Boxing Day 12 years ago - I've never been able to break the speed limit on the M25.

Sorry to confirm that the WHOLE of the country motorway system is on high speed optical network, that is cameras, speed traps, overhead displays, warnings, etc... It is slowly being linked up, the whole of the m25 is linked, m20,m26,m2,m11,m1,m40,m4,m3, then it covers all motorway areas, up to j36 on m6, down to taunton, m5 is linked,m56,m42.......
whether they have it all configured yet is another thing,
I helped build the network, I snagged it, fixed for hand-over, that was a rush as they had deadlines & penalties. Now the network holds no access to cams, speed traps.. etc... that is controlled by the police .... but its not long before they will be telling us how fast our farts are.....
happy dayz .... party ....

So you are partly resposnisble for the signs on the M6 telling you that the M2 towards Dover has delays, but fails to mention the 3 lanes closed on the M6 10 miles ahead of you?

One day the beleaguered citizens of this Country will rise up against all this big brother crap. There should be a national day (or week or more) where everyone removes their number plates and wears a hoody in their cars.

Rolski - I was pulling your leg mate - we all know it's the dimwits in the Highways Agency that feed us bum info - it's their idea of a joke.
