How 'Creaky' is your interior?

Post by simoncotton » Fri Jan 25, 2008 5:36 pm

My car has only done 60k miles and yes, its got a hard suspension (H&R coilovers). The interior is in excellent condition but its very creaky indeed, does everyone else have the same problem?

Can anything but done about it?

My B5 had quite a lot of creaks and rattles, especially from the door/window seals and the luggage cover. I actually bought a new set of door seals to try and get rid of some of the creaks, but never got to fit them. That reminds me to put them in the classifieds....

I'm very tuned-in to creaks - I think my B7 has got quite a few, but according to my friends, I'm hearing things that aren't there! :o

interior on mine is pretty quiet but what really hacks me off is the little plastic cover that clips over the front of the driver and passenger seat securing bolt. touch either side and they fall off. just my 3p

you may find that you have got some of those metal clips missing that "clip" it into place. There is a certain way those covers are fitted, they should "snap" into place when you fit them on as i found out after a long time...

I de-creaked my B5. I was sent a section of Alcantara material in black as a sample for another car I was doing up. not a big peice by any means, maybe 20cmx20cm.
major creak spots were the parcel cover anchor points right next to the boot door and the anchor points for the cover housing behind the rear seats. The seat belt anchor points for driver and passenger front seat rubbing against the leather of the seat. I cut stips of alcantara and covered the offending items, securing the material with silicon sealant to give some flex.

squeak free cruising, and I am running rock hard KWv3's!

Mine is pretty quiet apart from the rear luggage cover.

Can easily get hold of Alcantara so may do what you did jc, sounds a good idea.

48,000 miles with standard suspension and not a single creak - ever. I am amazed about the build quality of this car.

Yes very well built car for sure.

I for one will be using some alcantara on the rear luggage cover...

Mine creaks a little from the drivers door and there is a squeak somewhere from the back when I go over bumps which is nice and the centre arm rest squeaks a little. Once the stereo is on, nothing can be heard.

Squeak from the back is probably the luggage cover

Passenger seat squeaks like <beep> when someone is in it.

Door cards and windows creak and squeak.

Luggage cover squeaks, apart from that it's squeak free!!
