Snub mounts
Snub mounts
Hi All
Read most of the topics which are fascinating as I have had my S4 since Jan 2000 and covered many enjoyable miles and experienced some of the niggles mentioned.
Has anyone tried the 'snub mount' or other driveline stabiliser. I guess the former is cheaper but is it as effective?
Rgds

Re: Snub mounts
Hi Simon and welcome to the site.
I have no experience of the snub mount, but have an AWE drivetrain stabiliser on my S4. It makes a big difference to how 'tight' the transmission feels when going on and off the throttle and changing gear. For what it costs, I would certainly recommend it.

What does it cost ? And does it increase cabin noise at all, or transmit vibration ?
Cheers

£ 315 + fitting (about an hour).
Not noticed any noise increase at all.
Re: Snub mounts
Thanks guys,
Definitely interested in a device that makes the drivetrain smoother and also improves the gear change in the lower gears (if possible, at the same time).

Re: Snub mounts
Shortshifter (Tanoga in my case) and the DTS are a very good combination.
Re: Snub mounts
Thanks for the info. I have done a search but can't find a supplier Can you reveal where you go to get them ?
Cheers

Re: Snub mounts
AmD sell/fit them, I should think Kim Collins does too, not sure though.
Re: Snub mounts
Thanks.
I will try QST and AMD tomorrow. Any idea how they fit ? If it only takes an hour seems to me it must be quite easy so long as there are no specialist tools involved.

Re: Snub mounts
Try AWE DTS web page there are fitting instructions you can download
Re: Snub mounts
Here's an excellent review of both the APR snub mount and the UUC driveline stabiliser.
Linky, linky ...
I am looking at importing the APR snub mount from the US as it's actually cheaper to import one than buy one in the UK ! Anyone interested ?
Nige.

Re: Snub mounts
Yep I'm interested in trying the APR snub mount first. Then I want to move on to trying the Tanoga shifter. Drove an RS4 a few weeks ago and quite liked the gearchange which I know is a different system but made me realise how vague mine is (didn't like the price or the 'lag' though). Can we save something on carriage perhaps?

Re: Snub mounts
I'm almost sure the S4/RS4 linkage is identical (gearbox internals are different though!) My advice is to go for the Tanoga as soon as poss - you'll notice more improvement from this than the snub mount - go for it !
I'll keep you posted on the APR snub mount - any others ?
p.s. admin-type people, I'm not offering a GB here, just sharing the postage, so no please !

Aye - count me in for one
Re: Snub mounts
Any reason you are chosing the snub mount over the DTS other than cost ?
I have just had a price of £265 for the DTS if in case anyone is interested. Fitting is, apparantly, a 20m job for anyone owning a jack and capable of using a spanner...
