Cool. That is the boost gauge for me ! Very well integrated and looks factory. Shame they are so expensive , but heh maybe someone could organise a group buy for one of those ?

Now that does look like the one!! How much? And where can I get one? This looks like it should be there, stupid question, but if you do chip your car, will the gauge recognize the extra boost??

Tombs, they are $400 and available from Stratmosphere in the US. I did enquire at OC.T but they sell the kph ones and thus re-directed me to the US. If you want one, I wonder if we could negotiate a little for buying just two ? We could definitely save on shipping. They look relatively simple to fit if you don't mind mucking with little wires. If you do, I wouldn't mind carrying out a FOC fitting service
Oh, and they are rated for boost up to 1.5 bar IIRC which should be plenty even for chipped car.

Check it out here
You can downloading the fitting instructions too.

the install is not that bad actually

Post by 2TurboS4Steve » Sun Sep 07, 2003 6:59 am

this was actually the first mod i did to my car...
taking apart the dash cluster is not that bad!
one thing i should warn you about is MAKE SURE YOU PULL THE NEEDLES OFF STRAIGHT!
if you put the back on exactly where they were originally, thing will go smoothly...

the gauge taps a wire that feeds the boost levels to the ECU... it is great if you don't want to tap the vacuum line and worry about leaks from there...
you tap a brown wire with a grey stripe or something like that... i recall the kit requires 3 wire splices, and the kit includes wire splicers that make it real easy...

good luck with the install! a say a boost gauge is mandatory, especially if you're chipped... it shows you exactly what is going on with the car, and how a chip creates so much more hp/tq.

Your on!!!
And I take up your offer on the install, as me and electrics dont go at all (ask the wife about the little explosion in the Kitchen!!), I could be the tool assistant!!!
email me with details and we can go from there.

cheers

I will drop Stratmos a mail and see if they will offer any deal. Even if they don't, I should be able to get the kits shipped to my office in Boston, and forwarded from there marked as 'gift' to try and avoid attracting Her Majestys (I assume there's no C&E people here )
I will let you know.

Excellent!!!

On another point, If you dont mind and you have the time, and as your close to where I live, I would'nt mind one day seeing how your suspension shapes up compared to mine.
Although I might have to then spend more money at Kims!!

Still waiting for a response from Stratmos.

On the other point - not a problem. We can arrange something quite easily. I'll even bring my VAG-COM along if you fancy checking your car out... You should be prepared to spend £1100 though, as the suspension is a vast improvement

Just heard from Stratmos - they only have one kit left, and no delivery date I have sent a mail to OC.T direct to see if it is possible to get them out of Germany. Last time I sent them a mail they just redirected it to the US

I'll keep you posted...

AmD have kindly stepped in to assist with this.

AWE Centre Vent Gauge is £ 160 + VAT + fitting (tba, once Scott has installed the first one in his car).

We can get 10% off the gauge with 10 or more orders.

Please re-post/add your interest below

Just for completeness (and hijacking Carps' thread again )

AWE Centre Vent Boost Gauge for S4/RS4 is £ 180 + £ 110 fitting + VAT from AmD who have them in stock.

AWE's web site suggests it's an hours work to fit one of these....any idea why AmD want £110 to fit ?

AWE's web page says one hour, the instructions I've downloaded from it say 1.5 hours and AmD tell me it takes 2 hours (£55/hour), so I dunno but AmD have done a few now and it is a reasonably big job.

Maybe AWE are 'doing a Joshie' - no offence Ian
